I hate how care work always gets reduced to “wiping bums.” That’s part of it but it’s only a tiny fraction of what we do. We provide care, friendship, love. We’re a shoulder to cry on, sometimes a punching bag. We entertain, act as a stand-in for family. In many ways, we mother.
