TIWANAKU - is it greed, or connections that just don’t care about horses? Voided claim a year ago- (Oaklawn) huge ankles - -sore. No break or retirement - just off to La- to try and make more money. Than the process begins to try and get him retired which is “ one last race”until there is little hope of a horse having a life after racing. I now have him back and implore licensed owners- trainers - STOP on sore, lame horses to give horses a dignified retirement to be able to have a life after racing .

I would have never been involved in horse racing IF not for @TomAmossRacing , but more importantly is the relationship and friendship that developed - it’s irreplaceable - we’ve been through a lot together . Besides the friendship which means so much- the horse always came first - looking forward to a bright future w @RealKinnon and maybe tom can stay out later now!❤️
Tom Amoss Racing@TomAmossRacing

Horse racing has been a part of my life since my early teens and in 1987 I had the privilege of saddling my first winner as a trainer. Nearly 40 years later, I look back on my career with pride and gratitude. The countless memories, friendships, and opportunities that horse racing gave me will always be a part of who I am. None of my success as a trainer would’ve been possible without the people that I work with, both past and present. I’m especially appreciative of the owners that put their trust in me. Thank you doesn’t come close to expressing my gratitude. I’m proud to share that my assistant Kinnon Larose (@RealKinnon) will be taking the reins and become the trainer of record for the barn. He deserves it. I’ve watched him grow into an incredibly talented horseman as he’s worked by my side for the last six years. I will get as much joy watching Kinnon win races as I would if I were the trainer. To the entire racing community, thank you for decades of unforgettable memories and the joy it has brought me, my team, and my family! I’m not going anywhere, just ready to support and watch the next generation lead our industry. With Horsemen like Kinnon, we are in good hands. Sincerely, Tom

I have asked w no reply why horses running at @TheNYRA and were voided claims for unsoundness were allowed to be sold to Virgin Islands ? Friar Laurence Amongst others - even worse - Fioki’s Flight went to Puerto Rico - other tracks have prohibited this- why wouldn’t one of the biggest jurisdictions not do the same ? 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

After breakdowns during the 2024 racing season forced the closure of the Clinton E. Phipps Sr. Racetrack on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands in February 2025, yet another accident took place during opening day March 8. @campbellparlay reports. thoroughbreddailynews.com/safety-concern…

@BillFinley3 is spot on - the safe act outlawing shipping horses to slaughter - at least to me is no 1- and its failed again - I am pretty sure the board of @jockeyclub and so many others in this industry have the political power to get it done “if” it’s a priority ? Yep it’s a no brainer
TDN@theTDN

“It's a no-brainer.” In The Week in Review: - @BillFinley3 commends industry leaders for recent aftercare discussions but asks why no one is working to pass the SAFE Act. -The Big Cap deserves better. -Losing trainers like John Kimmel is a problem. thoroughbreddailynews.com/week-in-review…

Let’s see? Cano suspended by @hisa and @ChurchillDowns -for 12 years- @fairgroundsnola is owned by Churchill - yet La racing commission welcomes him due to finding no reliability of hair testing w positives of 6 horses, not one - but 6😳 Who trumps ?🤷

Here’s a simple and reasonable request for investigation both ⁦@hisa_us⁩ ( covered trainer) and ⁦@TheNYRA⁩ -Linda Rice when horses are voided claims in NY end up in Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands- Friar Laurence, Ice Road, and Fioki’s Flight- probably more?

help me understand- @TheNYRA @ChurchillDowns etc, we are banning those that send horses To Pueto Rico and Virgin Islands is even worse. Linda Rice can take a million dollars plus of horses out of Churchill to run in NY. One such horse is FRIAR LAWRENCE, A winner of over 350,000 , claims, takes to NY, has the claim voided in July, and than discards to Virgin Islands- where he has no shot to survive- Does greed, flling races, now trump any semblance of horse welfare???????
maggi moss@maggimoss

When talking about horse welfare and total fatigue and now sadness and disgust - Virgin Islands is even worse than Puerto Rico so help clarify “ if” this is the same Friar Laurence that Linda Rice claimed at Churchill - ran in NY July - voided claim and is now in Virgin Islands??

One should read comments on banning lasix and discover those deciding this issue are not those that work w horses 24/7 for years and years. I remember when this started, a prominent individual when asked this question “ do you have any idea of the amount of horses that will need homes, be discarded, sent to auctions etc?” The answer, “ ( I still keep it by my desk) “ that’s an unfortunate consequence of cleaning up this sport”. You think welfare is an issue now w not enough money or homes?

Sweet Rhythm was a 2 yr old, 2 nd race of her young life- euthanized w severe injury to her leg and found to have methylprednisone - an anti inflammatory - 500 dollar fine - now compare other HISA penalties w far less egregious drugs in work outs - like ace which in the past has been 7 days?????? Without further explanation - “looks” really wrong . #transparency
DC@DCHI23

A $500 fine for a positive in a horse that had a fatal breakdown during a race? Explain this shit to me like I’m 5 years old. WTF are we doing.

The only “ honesty” that matters, is reality - owners have and are leaving w no plan or action to replace them- trainers- the same. Nobody is helping the bettors- horses are still being discarded and abused - expenses are thru the roof - how many tracks have disappeared ? And that’s the “honest truth”
