Some news I've been meaning to share for a while now... I'm excited to share that Argos Research has raised a $1.6m pre-seed round led by @paigecraig and @outlandervc I'd like to also take the chance to thank our angel investors Charlie Yuan, Matthew Eggertson, Raymond Russell, Alexander Jabbour, and especially Charlie Songhurst who was the absolute first to believe in us. One thing has become clear. The distribution and impact of AI has not been equal. While we've watched the digital world get flipped outside down by the ongoing LLM revolution - the physical world has been left behind. While our hardware has gotten exponentially better, we still have yet to enter the world with robots doing our laundry, cars that drive us to work, or even roombas that can properly clean an entire home. This is for one reason - the physical world (and indeed, most complex systems) cannot be 'brute forced'. There is no throwing obscene amounts of data at an architecture and hoping it generalizes meaningfully, nor strapping go-pros to peoples heads and hoping that a robot learns to mimic humans correctly. There's only one way that we enter the sci-fi future, and that's by giving machines the ability to think, and more importantly, learn, as they go. Man as much as I've dunked on dividend investors in the past, after living off my portfolio the past few months I definitely get the appeal. I know it's not optimal. I know it's mental accounting. But the emotional and psychological aspect of it is more obvious to me now.

terminal has been my primary interface to my computer for almost two decades. now it’s the Codex app.

This also makes it easier to use some of the linked research in my actual work. Now that all the threads are available for my agents, I can now point Codex to the folder, and ask it to learn from the research papers that I have bookmarked.

Organizing them this way will probably make it easier for me to actually get back to them based on my requirements and actually re-read them.

Over time, I have managed to create 1500+ bookmarks on this site. Wrote some code to organize and cluster them based on topic (with drill-down etc too). Here are the high level topics that I seem to be interested in:

Don't discount @OpenAI Codex's design skills. If you can prompt it well and show examples of what you are looking for, it can create stunning UX design.

real networking events where folks are confined to a table for the whole evening. right now, many events have 50+ attendees, and the networking only works for the event organizers. i'd love more events where the same 50+ are split into smaller teams and have dinner together, or do a project/hackathon together etc.

I am like 99.99% sure that claude code is leaking user sessions across customers. Several of my recent claude code sessions have very unrelated titles. eg: Session title: "Fix login button on mobile" I don't have a login button, and I don't have a mobile app/website!

I trained an LLM from scratch on pre-1900 text to see if it could come up with quantum mechanics and relativity. While the model is too small to do meaningful reasoning, it has glimpses of intuition. When given observations from past landmark experiments, the model can declare that “light is made up of definite quantities of energy” and even suggest that gravity and acceleration are locally equivalent. I’m releasing the dataset + models and leave this as an open problem to the research community. I also include what this project has taught me about intelligence in a mini essay linked below. 🧵(1/n)

I’ve had the opposite! HN likes more technical posts, which are not overly sales-y. They also seem to struggle a lot with spam these days, so the chances of a post going viral is lower now than before. How did you crack reddit? That’s been an issue for me. I found many technical reddit’s to be super hostile.

I've had a lot of successful posts on Reddit, but not a single real hit on HN. How do you folks crack HN?

My best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in your life, and it can become a vice if you play your cards right.
