@StasKlymenko Unfortunately, I move my pieces faster than I think. I always knew that I'm hot-headed, but chess shows it to me in every game.

@makneta Yeah chess is a very addicting game. I played more chess games than some common games. But it requires a lot of thinking and analysing

I got to 1200 in rapid chess. Okay-ish result without spending time on training. With my current level I can get to 1300-1500. Further growth require studying. Will try to solve my main pain points - middlegame and pawn structure. Curious what can I get till the end of the year

@StasKlymenko Sometimes I can't stop myself & play rapids over & over again. Then I'm frustrated how careless I am. My hubby says that I'm over stimulate myself. He may be right. The night before, I kept waking up cause I was dreaming about chess & some Angular concepts. Was tired all day.

@makneta It's totally fine when you start. Like with coding - you will need a bit of time to understand some concepts, strategies, etc. I play only rapid too. There's some time to think 😅

@BatsouElef Mid-life crisis, I suppose. When my older sons went to university, I felt emptiness (having 2 younger kids still at home 🙃). I started asking myself if it's everything I could do/achieve in my life? 1 of my sons was studying IT & he got me interested in coding. What about you?

Are you using blue sky? I'm thinking about deleting my x account but would like to be in touch with some of you. Of course, if you want to be in touch with me. Many people I know from Twitter use LinkedIn daily but I don't want to write openly about job search there.

🥳 I survived my first year in DevRel! 🥑 So a year ago today I started my time at WeAreDevelopers. I had been slowly preparing to take the leap from education to tech for nearly 4 years (learning to code during covid, building projects, growing a following etc), and finally did it in February last year. It was a big risk. Having been a teacher for 10 years, I knew it was a stable job, with education being FAR less volatile than tech, layoffs-wise. My wife was 8 months pregnant at the time, too, so the timing wasn't ideal, but I knew I had to take the risk. She supported me every step, right from the day I started Day 1 of JavaScript, and her saying 'go for it' when the opportunity came up, without any hesitation, was so valuable, giving me confidence to put things on the line for something we'd worked to achieve. So I took the leap, and I'm so glad I did. At this point, I can say Developer Relations is DEFINITELY for me. Sure you have to wear lots of hats (making videos, writing articles, presenting podcasts and live streams, and more besides), and while this kind of context-switching isn't for everyone, this is exactly what I wanted in a job. If you're a hyper-active generalist like me, DevRel is perfect. It's a place to blend together writing code, being creative, creating content like videos and animations, writing and educating others, learning new things every day, problem solving, speaking to people, and more. That suits me down to the ground. If you're thinking about making the leap to tech, I'd say go for it. There are plenty of amazing companies out there who will recognise what you can offer, see your transferable skills, have the kind of culture you vibe with, and will give you the opportunity you're looking for. Thanks to @WeAreDevs for the opportunity, @codepo8 for not firing me and @marcba for the help and advice when it came to the move. Here's to another year ✌️

One of the best use cases for AI is writing tests. I give it a Playwright test as an example, and then it generates the rest of tests. Saves me time and allows me to focus on other things.

Don't know why. Maybe the universe is against me. 😅 But whenever I decide to keep pushing daily, something unpleasant happens. Last time, I got cold. This time, I had a small accident at home yesterday. So couldn't work on my project. Today I was feeling so bad

If you’re not looking forward to Monday, you’re in the wrong job or working on the wrong project. I always dreaded Mondays when I had bad jobs, and the opposite when I had good jobs.

Somehow couldn't make tailwind work on my new Angular app. Maybe it's even better. I will refresh my CSS knowledge. First day of my new project spent mostly on configurations. The least favourite part of coding. #buildinpublic #Angular

Almost 3 months ago, I got my very first Mac laptop. It was my dream to get a good laptop to code on my coach or in my bed. But (I know, it's stupid) the difference in key shortcuts drives me crazy. I constantly open some windows or cut text I wrote. I used to type without
