JUST IN: A truck hauling rhesus monkeys from Tulane University crashed on I-59 in Jasper County, MS. The monkeys are about 40 lbs each, aggressive, and may carry hepatitis C, herpes, and COVID. All but one have died. Officials say if the remaining monkey leaves the wreck site, it’ll have to be shot. Tulane’s sending a team tomorrow to recover it.

#DEVELOPING: A duffle bag filled with skeletal remains has been discovered inside a sewer in Gentilly, according to the NOPD. Police say the call came in around 12:33 p.m. Tuesday near Annette and Benefit streets.

#NEW: A Covington-area man is under arrest after deputies say he exposed himself to a female employee inside a coffee shop. Investigators say 62-year-old Mark T. Long walked in with his pants unzipped and exposed himself while waiting for his order. Detectives also say he was seen on surveillance acting in a similar way at the same business the day before. He later turned himself in and is now booked on one count of obscenity.

#NEW: A New Orleans man known as “DJ Hardhead” is accused of defrauding the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans workers comp program out of more than $37k, according to @AGLizMurrill. Agents say 51-year-old Warren Murphy claimed a work injury in 2022, but kept working as a DJ while collecting benefits and didn’t report it on required forms. Murphy was rebooked while already in Orleans Parish Jail on unrelated charges.

JUST IN: A former admissions director at Crescent City Christian School in Metairie has been arrested, accused of embezzling more than $87,000 in tuition payments. Investigators say 32-year-old Maryfrancis Johnson allegedly took cash payments between 2020-2023 and falsified records to make it appear families had paid. She’s charged with theft over $25,000 and computer fraud and was booked into the Jefferson Parish Jail.

#UPDATE: NOPD Supt. Anne Kirkpatrick says the gunman in the CBD shooting was shot and killed by a Tulane police officer. Police say the suspect got into a fight with a man, shot him, then crossed the street and shot a Tulane maintenance worker. Both victims are in critical condition.

#WANTED: Terrebonne Parish deputies are asking for the public’s help locating four suspects connected to a shooting in Gray back on Feb 8th. Authorities say the suspects face attempted first-degree murder charges and should be considered armed and dangerous.

New: Utility worker rushed to the hospital after falling from a bucket truck in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Baton Rouge Fire Department says a mechanical failure caused the fire in the bucket. The worker was taken to the hospital with burns and was reportedly in serious condition. The incident happened at the intersection of Evangeline Street and North Foster Drive. Video: @LASHYBILLS

JUST IN: A 43-year-old Tickfaw woman has been arrested after police say she left her 8-year-old child alone at a local laundromat Sunday. Investigators say she had two prior failed attempts to abandon the child earlier that day- first at a cemetery, then at a nearby farm. She was later located in Harvey and taken into custody. The child was safely picked up by a family member. She faces charges of cruelty to juveniles, child desertion, and criminal abandonment.

#NEW: Tangipahoa Parish deputies have arrested 64-year-old Alfred Dyson in connection with a suspected dog-fighting operation in Roseland. Deputies say they responded to a tip Saturday night near Highway 10, where they found evidence of a dog-fighting operation, including a makeshift ring, and say more than a dozen people ran off when they arrived. Two dogs were rescued. More arrests are expected.

DRUNK DRIVER SLAMS INTO SLIDELL HOME: Police say a 13-year-old was sleeping when a car crashed into his bedroom Thursday night. The teen suffered minor injuries. 20-year-old Alec Dillon now faces multiple charges. Police say the teen had recently moved his bed, which may have prevented more serious injuries In a post to Facebook, Slidell Police Chief Daniel Seuzeneau wrote, “GOD IS GOOD and truly had his hands on this miracle.”

#NEW: The NOPD is searching for 37-year-old Jenea Cionne Gordon and 47-year-old Patrice Denise Ancar in a child abuse investigation at Arthur Ashe School. Police say three assistant teachers allegedly locked a non-verbal autistic child in a closet. 52-year-old Monette Marie Angelain has already been arrested in connection. All face charges of cruelty to a juvenile.
