@FinnClodagh She was born in Broom Lane, Mallow. There's a plaque on a wall to commemorate the fact. I met her once when she came to town for a visit. She had a regal bearing.

Joan Denise Moriarty (1912-1992), ballet dancer, choreographer, teacher and founder of professional ballet in Ireland. Despite lack of money and opposition, she set up several schools, including the Irish Folk Dance Group and Irish National Ballet Company.
