@jellykeikeu thanks!侍女 means a maidservant, lady’s attendant, usually in old or formal settings. while 服务员 means a waiter, waitress or service staff, usually in restaurants, hotels. So, 侍女 = servant/attendant, while 服务员 = modern service worker.

In ancient China, many women were expected to bind their feet, a practice known in Chinese as guǒ xiǎo jiǎo (裹小脚). It was an incredibly cruel cultural tradition. #mandarin #chineseculture

Interesting❤️, but I’ve actually felt the opposite sometimes, Chinese looks scary, but it becomes logical.
Like 电脑 = “electric brain” = computer. That’s weirdly cute and useful 😭
The hard part is when tones turn one word into a whole plot twist. What’s hardest for you: tones, characters, or grammar?😇
English

Chinese is actually so hard 😭 sometimes I really wonder if it’s one of the hardest languages to learn. English feels way easier to me, but then I see Chinese calligraphy and I’m like… okay, this language is too beautiful to give up on. #learnMandarin #langtwt

@caracol_akane That’s awesome! The tones and classical poetry are such a beautiful reason to start. Love that it’s already become a daily joy for you — keep going!

@EzSpeakMandarin Totally! Real-world Mandarin just hits different. Suddenly it doesn’t feel like homework — it actually feels useful.
English

seeing Mandarin outside of textbooks feels different
it makes the language feel less like “study”
and more like something I can actually use
