@jackofspuds They also got absolutely wrecked by the pandemic and the general decline in theater attendance that happened since. Pixar thrived on making good films that audiences of all ages could attend. Now most kids watch things on YouTube and Disney focuses on franchises that sell toys.

Disney Animation Studios ended up with priority over Pixar, John Lasseter was (understandably) canned and movies, like all media, tend to collapse toward the best rate of return, in this case DreamWorks slop. Pixar also started making more movies centering human characters.
