The groom understood the assignment better than some officials understood public service. Filipinos can turn almost anything into a joke, and honestly, the wedding version is funny. But the reason everyone got the reference so fast is the worrying part. Our Senate should not be producing viral material through chaos, denial, and political theatrics. We can laugh, but we should also demand professionalism from people whose decisions affect the whole country.

Well said. China’s mistake is thinking that if it repeats a false claim loudly enough, the region will eventually accept it. China signed UNCLOS, lost under the 2016 Arbitral Award, and then decided to act like international law only matters when it benefits Beijing. Panganiban Reef is not Chinese territory and the Philippines has every right to reject that fiction, defend our maritime entitlements, and remind China that bullying does not erase international law.

Thank you for the map — it actually proves our point. The feature that the @Chinaembmanila label 美济礁 is Panganiban Reef, a low-tide elevation sitting well within the Philippines’ 200-nautical-mile Exclusive Economic Zone. Under UNCLOS — a treaty China signed — low-tide elevations cannot be appropriated as territory, generate no territorial sea, and certainly generate no ‘Chinese-controlled airspace.’ This is not Manila’s opinion. It is the binding 2016 Arbitral Award, which the People’s Republic of China remains legally bound by no matter how loudly it pretends otherwise. So let us be clear: the Philippines does not recognize, has never recognized, and will never recognize any ‘Chinese presence’ on a coral reef that Beijing illegally bulldozed, reclaimed, and militarized inside our own maritime zone. There is no sensitive ‘military facility’ there in the eyes of international law — only an unlawful installation built on a feature that belongs to no one but the Philippine sovereign maritime entitlement.

This is what love of country should sound like. Not silence, not excuses, not pretending everything is normal while powerful people dodge responsibility. The Philippines deserves justice, and Filipinos deserve a government worthy of their sacrifices. Accountability is not optional. It is the bare minimum.

DLSU HITS IMPUNITY De La Salle University took aim at the country’s political climate, warning against what it called the “unabated greed and lust for power” among some government officials as controversies continue to grip Philippine politics. In a strongly worded statement, DLSU’s Committee on National Issues and Concerns slammed the “uneven hand of justice” and criticized public officials who “betray public trust yet still have the temerity to seek power, evade accountability, or hide behind its protections.” The university said the culture of impunity has allowed leaders to prioritize “political ambition, dynastic survival, and vested interests” over the welfare of Filipinos. The Lasallian community also warned that corruption and political maneuvering have real-world consequences, from under-resourced schools and overwhelmed hospitals to families struggling with rising costs amid the oil crisis. Calling on Filipinos to resist treating politics as “mere spectacle,” DLSU urged the public to remain vigilant, organize and pressure leaders to uphold accountability and protect public funds. 📸 DLSU

Cayetano keeps saying the Senate was attacked, but it seems like the real attack on the Senate’s dignity came from inside. The Senate wasn't “natibag” by the NBI. It was embarrassed because the Senate looked like it was protecting someone from accountability, by the those who turned public service into political shelter. And now he wants the NBI to resign instead. That is rich.

Nice speech, but the Senate wasn't weakened by the NBI. It was weakened by senators who made the institution look like a hiding place instead of a place of accountability. The Senate should stand for the people, not for political protection. No agency can “tibag” the Senate faster than senators who forget that accountability is part of public service.

China keeps acting like Philippine waters are open for its own use. It's not. Any country that respects the Philippines should ask permission, follow our laws, and respect our territorial sea. China did none of that, which tells us exactly what kind of message they were trying to send. Pag-asa is ours, the West Philippine Sea is ours, and every unauthorized vessel should be challenged.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it drove away a Chinese research vessel that had been allegedly conducting “unauthorized” marine scientific research (MSR) near cays within the territorial sea of Pag-asa (Thitu) Island in the West Philippine Sea (WPS). PCG spokesperson for WPS Rear Adm. Jay Tarriela said the coast guard carried out a maritime domain awareness (MDA) flight on Sunday, May 17, after Chinese personnel were seen landing on Sandy Cay 2 and later moving to Sandy Cay 3. The MDA flight used PCG Islander 4177 to monitor the waters around Sandy Cay 2 and Sandy Cay 3 and during the patrol, the aircraft spotted Xiang Yang Hong 33, a China-flagged research ship capable of deep-sea surveys, bathymetric mapping, and marine ecological studies; as well as 20 Chinese maritime militia vessels scattered near Sandy Cay 3 and Sandy Cay 4. This so called senator is literally behaving like a spoiled child. It's actually insane how fast he made this whole situation worse for himself. Seems almost like common sense at this point, but running and hiding then distracting and causing chaos, only to then evade accountability and the law even more, makes you look 10x more guilty. Any Filipino leader who helped him escape should be ashamed of themselves and should also be held accountable.

'HISTORY WILL KNOW' Th Office of the Solicitor General asks the Supreme Court to reject Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s plea to stop the enforcement of the ICC arrest warrant against him over his role in the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign. In its comment before the high court, the OSG says the law “was never intended to provide an excuse for evasion” and warned that “no amount of technical reasoning can disguise the absence of justice.” The OSG also described Dela Rosa as a “fugitive from justice” for allegedly evading authorities and fleeing the Senate premises while under threat of arrest.

DECLINING GOV'T TRUST? Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano asserted that the leadership change was driven by his predecessor's inadequate response to urgent national issues, specifically the energy and fuel crises and declining public trust. In his Facebook Live on Saturday, he denied that the impeachment was the primary reason for the shakeup in the upper chamber, labeling the criticism as "propaganda." With a vote of 13-9-2, Cayetano ousted Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III last Monday, May 11, 2026. RELATED: tinyurl.com/3u9tz56n

This should alarm every Filipino. Authorities arrested 69 Chinese nationals at a steel plant in Misamis Oriental, with hazardous materials reportedly involved and links now being questioned. This is not “just business” anymore. Every Chinese-linked operation in the Philippines that involves fake papers, questionable ownership, hazardous materials, or suspicious permits should be treated as a national security concern. We must stop being soft on operations that put our people, workers, and national security at risk. The Philippines has been too trusting for too long. That ends now. 🇵🇭 #Philippines #NationalSecurity #China

If it wasn't absolutely clear before, it should be now. The leaders in our government who respect, defend, and fight for our country are not the ones who are trying to protect Dela Rosa. By protecting him you are humiliating the rest of the nation of the Philippines. Whether he is innocent or not, he has already caused so much disorder, his actions within the past 48 hours in the senate alone are reason enough to have him arrested. It is an embarrassment and an obvious message that some of our leaders only care about one thing and one thing alone. And that is power. It is time to have law and order within our nation. And it's starts now.

China really said Taiwan has “no right” to join a health meeting, as if Beijing owns the WHO and keeps the keys under Xi Jinping’s pillow. The funniest part is Taiwan basically saying, “Okay, see you in Geneva.” That is exactly how bullies should be handled. The Philippines has seen enough of China’s behavior to know this isn't strength. China acts like the region is its private property, then gets shocked when free people refuse to obey.
