@veddaang My feeling is the leak is likely at the shipping aggregator. Orders are synced to their system immediately after confirmation. The leak could be at payment gateway too but I feel there might be better checks and controls given it is a financial system.

there's a scam going around with D2C brands right now and i need to put this out because it's getting out of hand. customers are getting random calls saying "your order has been delivered OR we are delivering your order in 10 minutes, please pay the amount on this GPay number or by this link." the scary part is they know the EXACT amount, down to the paisa. like they'll literally tell you "pay ₹847.50" and that's the actual order value. here's what's making me lose my mind, this is happening even for orders that haven't been shipped yet. no AWB assigned, nothing. the order is just sitting on our dashboard ( shopif-y ) and with our courier partners ( aggregators ), payment softwares and somehow these scammers already have the customer's name, phone number, and exact order amount. we don't know where the leak is. honestly nobody does. could be anywhere from the places we share these data too or, could be somewhere else entirely. been reading about this for a week or two now and assumed it would have been identified and taken care of, but now it's happening with our own customers and i'm genuinely worried. if you've ordered anything COD recently, please only pay the delivery person AT YOUR DOOR. ask for an ID, ask for verification, see the package in their hand. don't pay on any number that calls you, no matter how legit it sounds. if any other founders are seeing this with their customers, please share. the more we talk about it the faster we'll figure out where the leak is. stay safe :)

@manishmo @RazorpayCare @Razorpay @RazorpayTech @harshilmathur Exactly the call I had with customer care at Razorpay - it's not customer drop off if they have entered UPI payments flow. It's a pain area - some banks routinely fail in UPI on peak days. And definitely there is some instability the last 4-5 days.

Coins and notes are legal tender* * Conditions apply Pay4-5% to deposit your own money in the bank in form of bank charges. This hits the poorer merchants like roadside vendors. Discourages them to use banking facilities and encourages the use of cash.

At the very least: 1. Scale. Bangalore doesn't have Delhi's hosting infra, for 200k people. Hotel rooms... Delhi+gurgaon+noida are struggling too. 2. Security : 40 heads of state coming requires crazy security 3. Bureaucracy: crazy work required to put something together. Meity has been reduced to event management 4. Local embassies to manage things for the heads of state. Familiar predictable territory, existing local relationships 5. Experience: this ramps up from G20. Bangalore would start from zero. 6. Wider roads for traffic management 7. Politics : who's in power in Bangalore, again?

Bengaluru would've been the natural selection to host the Global AI Summit. Of all places, why is it being hosted in Delhi lol? It's the Bengaluru Tech Ecosystem by Tech Entrepreneurs backed by Karnataka Govt that are setting up Blore as the AI & Innovation hub.

@_soniashenoy As you said, "what if this is a 10 year upcycle in silver"? Could be, or maybe not.

If you are a retail investor and missed out on the silver trade completely, you are not alone. Infact, most fund managers, PMS managers I speak to have missed out on the silver rally completely. There is a left out feeling which many of them find hard to accept and articulate. Fund managers with 20, 30 years of experience could not see this silver surge coming. ( there are some outliers though) The fact is that the market has rapidly repriced an asset that has been underpriced for years. I asked a veteran fund manager what if this is a 10 year upcycle in silver and he said "no one knows" and the truth is just that . No one knows The interesting part is that many retail investors i speak to are now buying silver in panic. some are even liquidating their mutual funds and moving to silver and gold entirely This is classic recency bias that generally does not go down well and could erode years of compounding. As an investor, i always work with one rule , if an asset / stock makes you anxious before buying it , it will definitely destroy your peace after buying it.

@matthewjablack The biggest giveaway in this was a phone call from Google. Large internet companies (Google, Meta, Amazon etc.) don't like to make phone connect. It's sooo hard to get in touch with their customer support, there's no way they will ever call anyone.

Just encountered one of the most convincing Google account takeover scams I’ve seen. Perfect American accent. Calm. Professional. They start the call by saying someone tried to hack your Google account using a fake death certificate, then ask if you recognize a recovery email or phone number. They ask if you’ve received any recent Google emails about an account you don’t recognize trying to recover access. And sure enough, there’s a legit Google security email. Here’s the trick. The attacker isn’t trying to hack your account. They create a throwaway Google account, set your email as the recovery email, then try to recover that account. Google sends you a real security email. The scammer calls you live, references the email, and even tells you to verify the headers since it comes directly from Google. The headers are real. That’s the point. Then they tell you they’re locking down your account and that you’ll get a recovery prompt on your phone. You just need to approve it to stay safe. The giveaway was the device and location in the prompt didn’t match me. When I pushed back, they claimed it was from their servers, which obviously makes no sense. At that point I hung up. I have a personal rule to never approve anything I didn’t initiate, especially while on the phone. Extremely well executed social engineering. I’m sure this works on a lot of people. And if someone calls you about account security, assume it’s a scam

@beastoftraal I am imagining that Shraddha Kapoor probably actually had this conversation with the agency about why someone other than her should be in the ad, and they used that to actually make the ad. Possible 🤷‍♂️

This is quite a clever ad by Palmonas :) The brand could have directly used Amrita Rao as the only person in the ad, talking about the mangalsutra product range, but that would have been straight to the point. Instead, the script pitches a so-called battle of egos between Palmonas' co-founder and actor Shraddha Kapoor, and Amrita Rao, with the former wondering why the brand that she co-owns should even consider bringing in another brand ambassador! What's Amrita's retort (and Palmonas CEO Pallavi Mohadikar agrees, in the ad)? That Shraddha Kapoor is single, and the ad may not sound convincing when a single woman tries to sell a mangalsutra product range! This is really not a big deal, if you think about it. Ranveer Singh (married to Deepika Padukone) and Alia Bhat (married to Ranbir Kapoor) act as a couple on their honeymoon in ads for Makemytrip. Akshay Kumar plays a doctor, with a white coat and stethoscope, in ads for Policybazaar. People adequately know that ads exist in a make-believe world even though they want us (the people) to take only the product claims seriously (which are not make-believe) and ignore the make-believe parts as entertainment. But what really sells Amrita's retort is the script using her famous on-screen avatar from the movie Vivah! She really lives up to her 'Poonam' role from Vivah, redoing Shraddha's dialogs in Vivah-style and even throws a 'Jal Lijiye' to great effect :) It also looks like the writing included quite a bit of detailing. Observe the opening close-up shot of the agreement! It has a recurring 'except one' ending for all three descriptions, though I'm not sure what Pallavi's 'except one' implies - what is that one business problem that she cannot solve? Did they mean getting Shraddha to sign the contract? Plus, there's a 5% off for those using 'Jallijiye' as code, and a throwaway wink at people who paused to read the contract details :) Entertaining writing, with good use of pop culture in perfect context! I couldn't find the agency that made this ad. Would like to credit them, if I come to know. #advertising #marketing #creativity

I learn things the hard way simply coz one must unlearn the old ways. Never Ever buy life insurance for savings. Insurance locks you in and you may end up losing money. One job loss can make you lose money that you thought was your saving in life insurance.

Help me decide on a WordPress migration/refactoring approach, please. 1 ) My WP / Woo site has 52k orders, 40k users, 1.2k posts, 3.5k images, and 22k comments. 2) I need to switch my theme and refactor all my custom child theme code. 3) Over the last 10 years, I feel the DB and wp-content folder have become bloated. I would really love to start from a blank install, then re-import posts, orders, comments, and other content manually, so the new database stays clean and bloat-free. Am I crazy for thinking this? Should I abandon this strategy?

@irentdumpsters Is there a way for bodhisplumbing(.)com to prevent such a hijacking of traffic?

Black hat local SEO tactic: stealing traffic from competitors with similar domains Buy domains that look almost identical to your competitor If their site is bodhisplumbing(.)com you grab: bodhisplumbing(.)co bodhisplumbing(.)net bodhisplumbing(.)org Then you funnel all the traffic those domains collect straight into your brand and your email It’s not ethical at all But you will hijack a surprising amount of branded traffic Consumers are not as smart as you think and they’ll submit leads without realizing the difference If you really want to get crazy you can juice those domains with backlinks and authority I’m not advising it But if you want to have some fun and test the edges of what’s possible... you’ll definitely learn a few things
