Took my first sick day of the year today after my Covid and flu shots yesterday. Still grateful for the vaccines, especially hearing about so many colleagues and friends who have #Covid at the moment. I had a reaction to dose 3 as well, and expect to be feeling better soon. 😴🤒

A climate person I (no longer) follow retweeted the first post, which has sent me down an absolutely insane rabbit hole

@Eskom_SA there wouldn't be any strain on the network if you did your job properly. And homeowners unplugging their fridge won't fix your problems. Of course we shouldn't waste electricity, but the lack of supply is YOUR problem, and should not be ours

A BILLION CATTLE are at risk of severe heat stress from climate change. A BILLION. Destroying forests to expand cattle farming. Worsens climate change. Kills cows. Stop burning fossil fuels. Protect forests. Eat less beef. Read the research👉 ow.ly/8efv50PArsO

@tatsuya_amano I feel terribly guilty but I also can't condone what appears to be lazy (or inept, student) writing. Inexperience is valid, but why is their PI or other coauthor not providing input? I review so many poorly put together papers...

@tatsuya_amano I'm so thrilled with this paper - congrats. But I want to ask... as a reviewer... how to walk the line between sympathy for a EAL author and maintaining academic rigor, when clearly not enough thought has been put into the writing (poor argument, coherence)?

How hard is it to do science in a language that’s not your first language? We quantified the severity of #languagebarriers for non-native English speakers when reading/publishing papers and attending/presenting at international conferences. doi.org/10.1371/journa… 1/9

I didnt realise this. I was pushed to get 2 out for my MSc. Thankfully they didnt go to predatory journals. I thought my supervisor just had lots of faith in me and thought it would be good for me 👀
