@DrFrancesRyan What worries me is that it is not complicated at all - racism and discrimination in all its forms is never going to be defeated. 😞

These things are incredibly complicated and there’s clearly many factors at play but you do wonder how much of Trump’s success comes down to the fact a lot of men - and white women - simply cannot bring themselves to vote for a female President. The “strong man” is enduring.

@reece_dinsdale I think women will be the ones that are key to this election & come out to show their huge numbers to swing it for Kamala. Trump has really underestimated Women & it will cost him.

I feel sick. If the horror that is Trump, a convicted felon, wins the vote to be President, I truly believe that we as a species will have jumped the shark. What’s the point anymore in fighting for anything honest & benevolent if a majority of us are now blind to such things?

@SwailesRuth Worked in early years for 13 years. 3-4 yr olds in a setting in a school, access to everything the school had access to, but trying to explain to successive leadership the difference in provision needs even from nursery to reception was exhausting!

While I welcome investment in the Early Years, we must ensure the provision is right. The first few years are crucial, no matter how good our intentions are, we can do real damage if we get it wrong. Young children have very specific needs which must be met. They are not mini KS1

The devil will be in the details. These are not mini primary children, their needs are different, that’s why we have an EYFS framework. Working with under 3s is a totally different experience and requires expertise and suitable facilities.

Labour pledges 300 new state nurseries in England within 12 months: Does ⁦@bphillipsonMP⁩ know that the provision of care& education for U3s means vastly different practice to that carried out in schools? ⁦@educationgovuktheguardian.com/education/2024…

@MoneySavingExp Portions are huge. We used to order food for two and plates for the kids so they could share. At that time it was around $2 for a plate.

@PippaCrerar Shameless wording, Pippa, I can’t believe you are stooping to the same level as the gutter press. Their kids have never been in the public eye. You should be ashamed of yourself for this low standard of journalism.

@TorstenBell It’s depressing that so many people seem unwilling to acknowledge that change takes time. People want TikTok government - everything accomplished in a few seconds!

Before you small minded desperate Tory doormats, go off on one about Lady Starmer's new dress. It was loaned to her. It's what fashion designers do, get a well know person to show off their fashion design. So, before you burst a blood vessel. Calm down and get back in your box

✅ CLEARED: Most trains through #Sturry are now running normally following an earlier issue at the level crossing. A small number residual delays may still occur for a little while so please do check the status of your train before travelling. bit.ly/45StIfO

@TheNewsAgents I once had a cocktail with essence of orange. The bartender basically wafted an orange peel over the glass. Made no impact on the taste - is that the type of essence she has?

@DrFrancesRyan I used to work at a school in a very deprived area, uniform was available at any supermarket and a badge provided for ironing/sewing on to jumper/cardigan. New head recently and now everything from PE kit to book bag is branded and hugely expensive.

Absolutely. It’s immoral - and unnecessary - to charge parents hundreds for branded uniforms. I went to a primary school where 90% of families were on a low income and many in poverty and pupils were subsequently allowed to wear “anything blue or white.” Kind and sensible.
Sidonie@Skidachu

@DrFrancesRyan Would also be good if parents didn't have to pay a small fortune for branded uniforms. £50+ for a blazer is insane when they grow so fast. Never mind when they don't let parents buy skirts/trousers from the high street and can only use a specific expensive supplier.

Last day of being glued to tv, watching, listening & enjoying new sports, celebrating success across so many different activities, loved seeing athletes from all over the world race & compete. I’ll certainly miss it, but I’ll get more work done 😂. What’s been your favourite?

@Clazza57 @implausibleblog Exactly! The only thing we needed to know was that the person responsible had been apprehended, no one else was in danger and that the poor families were given space to grieve and be cared for by their communities.

@implausibleblog Everyone missing something here - he keeps saying Southport riots would not have been so bad if we had 'known'. There's no excuse for any violent disorder after 3 young girls have been horribly murdered, whether alleged perpetrator was white, brown, black, Christian or Muslim.

@ShelaghFogarty Can’t believe the gall of this politician,to equate being a parent with having a stake in the future of the world.Division and inequality are what they all mean by this type of rhetoric, and some women are the most vocal advocates of it.Disgraceful.
