The scholar transport driver arrested for the Vaal accident that claimed the lives of 14 learners is now waiting for the Director of Public Prosecutions to finalise his charges so he can apply for bail. Ayanda Dludla was arrested in January this year after his taxi collided with an oncoming tipper truck in Vanderbijlpark. The 22-year-old was speeding and overtaking several cars when his vehicle crashed into a truck. The accused was initially charged with 14 counts of murder, three counts of attempted, reckless driving and driving without a valid professional driving permit. Dludla abandoned his bail application in January this year, but now he intends to apply for bail when he reappears in court on 22 April.
