Art, Science, Left, Remain, Public Inquiry into electoral malpractice during referendum and PPE debacle. Jazz. Need a film? DM. Make a case, not just a noise

What an astonishing campaign. I’m in awe of everyone who gave their time, energy, resources and votes. When recent GE polling in the North East shows Labour with 60+% of the vote, most commentators thought Labour would walk this. The fact that we got 126,652 votes here, nearly as much as Tories, Green, Lib Dem and Reform put together, with no Westminster party machine behind us, shows something is happening in the North East. This was a people powered campaign and it doesn’t die with just one election result. Tens of thousands of people voted for a different type of politics. There is a huge appetite for pragmatic transformative policies that reduce inequality and treat people with respect. We are building a movement and we’re staying right here.

Our government is complicit in the slaughter of innocent people in Gaza. Today, we filled Parliament Square to demand a permanent ceasefire and an end to arms sales to Israel. We are a movement for peace — and we aren’t going anywhere.

This is a war on civilians. On doctors trying to save lives. On aid workers trying to feed Palestinians. On teachers trying to put a smile on the faces of children. This is a war on humanity — and our government should never be forgiven for its contemptible complicity.

It has been a wonderful joy to meet teachers and children in Gaza over the years – and learn from their empathy, curiosity and humanity. I don’t know if those teachers or children are still alive. I don’t know. Please, we need a ceasefire, now.

Someone needs to tell @GillianKeegan that her department is responsible for academies and controls capital budgets which fund rebuilding and repairing schools. And quickly. Because ignorance, allied with incompetence, allied with intemperance is not a good look.

#Ridge has to remind Gillian Keegan(Education Secretary) that she's responsible for schools. 🤦 #politicshub

Terence Mordaunt is Penny Mordaunt’s uncle and her main financial backer. The Bristol Port Company which he owns will benefit massively from the tax avoiding Freeport scheme. He heads the Global Warming Policy Foundation. Which exists only to spew lies denying climate change.

UK Labour party: The curious case of Britain's forgotten 2017 election: Corbyn polled just a few hundred thousand fewer votes than Blair in 1997's landslide and still has higher approval ratings than Starmer. His erasure from UK political memory is telling middleeasteye.net/opinion/uk-lab…

1. ECHR is nothing to do with EU. 2. I’m sure Suella Braverman will love this rare political quote from the Queen.

I just feel the need to reiterate that I fucking despise Suella Braverman. She’s a despicable, vicious, dangerous scumbag. We all thought that when Priti Patel went, things couldn’t get worse, but somehow this government consistently finds a way to increase the dread and horror.

BREAKING "£8bn of Covid contracts still not declared and much information also hidden on other contracts" Shockingly this includes £2bn of our money given to PRIVATE HOSPITALS during the pandemic....hang on.... We know every single contract through VIP LANE was referred by a Tory most often to companies owned or linked to other Tories. We need a specific root and branch investigation on ALL OF THIS by the next non Tory govt. Money missing? Where has it gone and why is the information being hidden?

I thought you would all like to know that Richard Tice has dropped his threatened legal action against me. I have admitted nothing and paid him nothing. Many thanks to my wonderful legal team for sorting this out quickly and efficiently.

The miners’ strike. The poll tax. The Iraq War. Ticket office closures. Name a campaign, and Annette Thomas has been there, always on the right side of history. Happy 93rd birthday from all of us in Islington. Your dedication to peace & justice is an inspiration to us all.
