Excited to share our new work now out in PNAS: We used the dHCP data to show that white matter myelinates faster in utero than ex utero. This difference in myelination rate, in turn, explains the reduced myelin content seen in infants born preterm. doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2…

New preprint: We found that myelination of the white matter slows down at birth and that this deceleration explains reduced myelin content seen in infants born preterm. This may suggest that the protective environment of the womb promotes myelination. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
