@marekyiddish being a yiddishist makes him an outlier among the very few Jewish soldiers. he is in the assimilation machine that is the army and he asserts identity against it and also questions what that identity is.

@forsurenotjosh I have not read the book so I honestly don’t know that much. What do you mean by anti emblematic?

@marekyiddish I just have many thoughts about it. Hurvits experiences so much and is so like anti-emblematic of the American Jewish experience in a way he is very self conscious of in a way I find very interesting and performative (in the actual theory sense not the judgy twitter sense)

@marekyiddish if it's a deaccessioned library/archive book it's probably the corresponding card catalog cards unrelated but this book is crazy I did my thesis project on it

I found this (I think newspaper) clipping in an old book, part of it is printed in blue. Does anyone know what kind of newspaper or smth this could be from?
