Any school that can afford to build an aquatic centre like this for $125m shouldn't receive a cent of government funding.

This is hilarious (but also accurate). For me as parent, my kids go to our local public school. It’s economics. Instead of paying thousands of dollars in fees, the money can go towards their post school pathways or the cost of their future housing.

Being a teacher is the most important job in the world and we don’t have enough. Pay is important. So is reducing workload. And so is respect. That’s what this new national campaign the PM and I will launch today is all about. Here’s a teaser.

Since April, nearly 5,500 temporary teachers & support staff across NSW have accepted offers of permanent employment. The reaction has been extraordinary. I heard from Anthony & Chandani, @merrylandshs staff, who are thrilled with being offered permanency. education.nsw.gov.au/news/latest-ne…

More than 15 of those 5,463 are at our school. We are all so happy for them, and even happier for the kids they teach and work with. 🍎

if we funded schools fairly…it would certainly mean that the dollars that were invested would get some kind of return in terms of making an actual difference in children’s lives who need it, rather than funding yet another Olympic swimming pool for already overindulged kids.
