So... it finally happened!
After 1 year of learning to code and 2 rounds of #100DaysOfCode, this week I'm officially onboarding for a job as a C#/.NET Technical Writer😭💜
That means I'll be getting PAID to code and learn new things, I'm so happy!
English

@haileyjocodes I think it’s so important to have this conversation in our community.
There’s not enough chat about genuine zigzag journeys into SWE. Like you’ve said, coding as a hobby is a great way to continue learning. If anything, it could help to broaden horizons and chances once ready.
English

I haven't been on here the last few days since my family and I have been grieving the sudden loss of a family member.
I’ve been to too many funerals in the last few years. Each one makes me feel incredibly sad and tears away little pieces of my heart, but it also reminds me to cherish my loved ones and hold them close.
100DaysOfCode: I’m planning to resume the challenge in a day or two (or more), then go back home.
DMs: If I haven't gotten back to you I'm not ignoring you, just have a lot on my plate right now.
English

@Shankarsh15S @zlatov_cristina This is exactly what I realised I was missing.
I didn’t feel mentally fulfilled at work, even though there were tough things to work out. It gave a glimpse that the problem solving is what I love and feel fulfilled by.
Plus, there is so much creativity and design in tech!
English

@zlatov_cristina Spot on @zlatov_cristina ....
Beyond remote work and competitive salaries, it opens doors to
-creative exploration
-collaborative problem-solving
-community of forward-thinkers.
It's not just a career; it's a boundless playground of innovation!

@elliezub @ConnorLibutti Why can I relate to this so much? 😭😂
I once craved coffee, happened to be at the airport, and that coffee was bad. Almost like there was 50% water, 5% watered down coffee and the rest a resemblance of milk with syrup 🥲
English

@ConnorLibutti Same tbh I’m not sure why 😅 it’s more expensive and tastes worse, very sad!
English

@zlatov_cristina Writing code that works is more important.
Yes you need to aim to write it fast, but if you write fast and introduced bugs, you will spend double the time (if not more) to fix the mistake.
English

@zlatov_cristina It's definitely good to develop something that can be used in real life - there's more of a purpose and story behind that.
I think that it should be fun or engaging to the developer as well. Without that, it is easy to give up on the project.
English

you really don't need to build a portfolio if your projects section is gonna be half empty or a "work in progress"
just focus on bulding projects that have one of these characteristics:
1. helps you learn mid or advanced coding concepts
2. has a real world use case
3. is original and different but not necessarily over complicated
4. is not a netflix clone
5. is somewhat easy to explain to non technial people and/or HRs
6. is public on GitHub and has a well written README
English

@andreiacribeir Hi Andreia! I’ve got also got a psychology degree, and have a passion for technology and software development. Lovely to meet you thanks to the X algorithm 🤩
English

@programmingjack This is really helpful!
I created a portfolio website a few months back, but too anxious to deploy it. I think I will need to push myself and finally deploy it 🥲
English

@CreeCoder Oh this is hilarious! Damn it, I need to power up my game 😂🤦♀️
English

@elifscode That’s amazing! Huge congrats on your achievement 🎉

Day 53 of #100DayOfCode
Started working on debugging in C# today. There really are a lot of features that help with pointing out issues!
I learned about:
- breakpoints/conditional breakpoints
- watch expressions
- call stacks
On an unrelated note, I'm a bit of a night owl, but I'm determined to transform into a morning person! No more midnight coding for me (hopefully)🤞
The only thing that has worked for me is severe jetlag. Other than that, I have a really hard time waking up early(and keeping the habit), so any tips would be appreciated🙏

English

@elliezub @imanmcodes Ohhh! I’m the exact same! It’s that odd time like 7.52 and my brain goes straight to power node of getting work done 😂
English

@imanmcodes I’m not sure why… but around 6 pm is when my brain goes into full power mode🤣
Maybe I used to be a cat in my past life🤔
I wish I was like you Iman🥲

@NickNaskida @OpenDevLog I so hope this would be me once I've dived into it. I've used Bootstrap and liked it, just a tad apprehensive about Tailwind...
English

@OpenDevLog I also use Tailwind for first time recently. I am not going back to plain CSS 😅
English

Using Tailwind CSS is like suddenly having a remote for your life. Just push a button, and watch everything magically fall into place. ‘Need to center a div?’ click Done. ‘Change that color?’ click Done. It’s like having life on easy mode, but for web design. And just like that, my website’s looking fine, while I’m just sitting here, sipping my drink, watching the chaos unfold elsewhere!
