“it’s not free! we pay for it with taxes!” no shit you stupid bitch lol how is this still being presented as breaking news newsflash, we have to pay taxes REGARDLESS of what they go toward. so yes, we are advocating for them to be used to feed underprivileged children.
Julia Hartley-Brewer@JuliaHB1

The breakfasts are not free. They are paid for by taxes - mostly on parents who feed their own kids. Most of these 10,000 children would have had a perfectly healthy breakfast at home without these clubs. This isn't about helping the poorest kids, it's the state taking over the basic job of parenting.

Dar el pecho o no a tu hijo no es lo que te hace mejor o peor madre, sino tomar decisiones para que ambos estén lo mejor posible, unas veces es dar el pecho y otras es no darlo. Que cada madre tome su propia decisión. No hay más.

Dunno about you but I’d rather my taxes funded feeding innocent kiddos & giving them a guaranteed meal every day than lining the pockets of billionaires & greedy politicians getting us into wars we don’t want, but hey I guess I’m weird like that

Anyone else got adult children at home? What’s a reasonable age to throw them out ( sorry I mean encourage them to fly the nest.) Just had an argument about potatoes 🙄

@sophielouisecc You’re the backwards one here frankly. Annoyed at a system and blaming the victims but not the perpetrators- aka the Tories who caused this austerity in the first place. We wouldn’t need ANY kind of clubs or support if jobs adequately paid their workers & synced with childcare.

The number of people deliberately misunderstanding this is funny, why do those on lower incomes but working full time have to fork out loads for holiday clubs so they can work in the holidays but those who sit at home all day and don’t need holiday clubs because they don’t work - get if for free If you can’t see how backwards that is - you are dumb. Same as breakfast club, those who need it, are those who work Also those on benefits with children have just got up to a £6000 pay boost They’re certainly not poorer than a min wage worker that has to pay full price.

You know what I think is broken That children of working parents have to pay for holiday club, breakfast club and after school club, in order to be able to keep working when children are off school etc But the children of parents who don’t work, get those things for free even though they don’t need them because they’re home and can look after their children These ‘benefits’ should be for those who work full time. Not the other way round

@sophielouisecc @TheRealJamieKay Before you spout rubbish on Twitter, do your research. 37% of claimants work but need a UC top up to survive the ever growing increase in costs. Whilst you’re right, more should be done for the families that only work & dont receive much if any support, let’s not ignore fact.

So are you just not going to bother reading the post. The families that need help for breakfast and holiday clubs - are those that work - because they rely on these things to be able to work. Those that don’t and can look after their own kids because they’re at home all day - get it for free - even though they have a less justified need. It is wrong These benefits should exist but for working people only

If children get free breakfast and lunch - why do we need to remove the 2 child cap Surely if they have just got a £6000 benefits boost, they can afford to make their kids a packed lunch
