I don’t know how to describe life as a #widow other than it being like half of who you are being ripped away; trying to re-find purpose in life. It’s trying to find joy, laughter again - whilst living with a shedload of guilt & trauma. And missing your husband so very much.

A Place in the Sun aired 3 June. Western Costa del Sol. Presenter, Sara, opens the programme early one morning on a beach, introducing us to the very glamorous buyer, Rebecca, who has brought her equally glamorous (but shorter) friend, Sophia, with her. Both women appear to be wearing evening dresses. On the beach. 🧐 Glamorous Rebecca has 140,000 to spend on a property. She's very open about what she wants. She's going to be seeking work as a hairdresser and has researched visa requirements. Of course there's the usual wiggle room of 10,000. Or as the literate amongst us call it - wriggle room. 😜 Property 1. A 1 bedroom modern, stylish apartment with huge balcony. Amazing sea views. Proper sea views too. None of this craning your neck over the balcony risking life and limb for a glimpse of something that could be sea or sky, or anything really. She can imagine a big white sofa in the apartment. 128,000. A contender. Properties 2 to 4 are not contenders for a variety of reasons: one is ground floor which she doesn't like; one is terracotta which she doesn't like - she prefers white as she says she's a princess. 🙄 Even a house with lots of outside space is ultimately rejected. Property 5. A penthouse apartment with 2 bedrooms that gives her princess vibes. 🙄 139,500. Next morning the glamorous couple meet Sara on a beach with the usual strategically (and oddly) placed table plonked in the sand upon which are the obligatory and untouched glasses or orange juice. The twosome are in different inappropriate evening dresses. Glamorous princess Rebecca has now changed her mind (as princesses often do)😜 and property 4, the house, is now her favourite. She offers nearly 15,000 under the asking price, which is rejected. She ups her offer by 5,000. This, too, is rejected. She decides to offer on property 1. 123,000 is rejected but a deal is eventually struck at 126,313. Phew. Marbella is now frantically restocking its shops with evening dresses and tiaras in eager anticipation of a new customer.🤣

My thoughts are with the Princess of Wales as she is treated for cancer, but also with the more than 1000 other people who were also diagnosed with cancer across the UK today. Cancer doesn't care who you are or how much you'll be missed and it leaves devastation in its wake.

@mariedaoud4 @Number10cat Yup. Even when I was admitted to hospital, I never thought it was cancer. It was aggressive so I started chemo 3 days after diagnosis. That was in 2015. Had a transplant, relapse in 2019 - saved by a medical trial in London
