***This baby Myelomeningocele- A neural tube defect. Defect of the spinal cord*** Baby’s spinal cord didn’t close completely during the first 4 weeks of pregnancy. This happens very early, even before many women know they’re pregnant. Its easy to detect at Level-1 scan as early as 11weeks. But this patient had no ultrasounds and Antenatal doctor check ups. She directly came at 9th month with an USG stating meyelomeningocele. At that time, there is no option left, except to deliver the baby and do the surgical correction of the defect, after birth. Delivered on 12th Jan 2026. Baby had undergone surgery soon after the birth, completely recovered now and got discharged today :) It is usually due to low folic acid and some genetic or environmental factors. It is NOT because of anything you did wrong. For the next pregnancy, taking folic acid before conception can reduce this risk by almost 70% Main cause:-✔ Folate deficiency Others •Diabetes •Obesity •Antiepileptics (valproate, carbamazepine) •Hyperthermia/fever early pregnancy •Previous NTD baby •Genetic susceptibility Prevention: Start Folic acid 5 mg daily Start 3 months before conception → 12 weeks Antenatal Screening Checklist:- First visit ✅ Start folic acid ✅ Sugar control ✅ Stop teratogenic drugs 11–13 weeks ✅ NT-NB scan 16–18 weeks ✅ MSAFP 18–20 weeks ✅ Target anomaly scan Look for: •Lemon sign •Banana sign •Ventriculomegaly •Spine defect Treatment: Surgical Closure within 24–48 hrs to Prevent infection + preserve neural tissue P.S- Kindly visit your obstetrician as soon as your UPT is positive. Its important to take an opinion of a doctor 3 months before planning a pregnancy!! (Pre-Conceptional Counselling)

@marijuana__Med Yes, we got our exam schedule from 25th March till 17th April 2026.... Our clg has lectures till Jan end....!

PS. We got all our log books/Records recently So now we have 5-6 log books to finish that was the reason to seek help from freshers, but they ditched us this way!

My friend gave her Paeds log book to a fresher who volunteered very enthusiastically, saying she’d write it for “good senior-junior bonding.” Two weeks later, after repeated delays, she has written only 3 out of 24 cases and now she’s demanding money for it.
