Our Christmas Elf to the rescue! Thank you Mario @kildarelibrary for your help with getting our tree up! 🎄🎄 Strangely he disappeared when we said we needed help with the lights 🤔

@riverbankarts @kildarelibrary Found it in a forest of trees, chopped it down with a blunt axe and the sweat upon my brow, carried it on my bare naked shoulders across rivers and mountains, pitched it into the corner (fluffing out the branches) and called it HOME-If Carlsberg did Christmas trees!! #savingxmas

I second @WoodbineBooks choice for Day 2 for #DIKBChallenge23 for #DiscoverIrishKidsBooks - choose an Irish graphic novel, 'Michael Collins: Ireland Rebel's Son' by @mariomcorrigan and illustrated by @anithingartist
WoodbineBooksIreland@WoodbineBooks

Our Day 2 #DIKBChallenge choice is Michael Collins: Ireland’s Rebel Son by our favourite local author/illustrator team @mariomcorrigan and @anithingartist. Great for getting kids interested in history, and a big hit with teachers too. @OBrienPress #DiscoverIrishKidsBooks

Maith sibh to Mario Corrigan and the Curragh Local History Group on a fascinating talk on the Grey Abbey/Rathbride Column martyrs. Delighted to pick up a copy of Mario Corrigan's fine history of the single biggest execution of Republican prisoners during the Civil War...

@EugenesDIYDen @MissEllieN @francisbrennanb The building to the right is Lord Edward guesthouse but not sure what condition the interior of the Tower is - it was fairly dilapidated when I was in it last but that was before the works were done to the outside. Might be worth messaging the Silken Thomas

@EugenesDIYDen There were Elk bones found at Rathcoffey in the 1930s - JCKAS 1935 - described as a hoard but I could not find one for Carnalway - you can search the journal and Kildare Observer here - #panel=home" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">archive.irishnewsarchive.com/olive/apa/KCL.… or email localhistory@kildarecoco.ie

@mariomcorrigan Have you ever come across a record of elk bones being found in gravel deposits at Cramersvalley near Carnalway? I can't remember where I read it, maybe in the Journal of the Co. Kildare Archaeological Society, or I'm just imagining it.

Enjoyed a visit to #Kildare Cathedral for Choral Evensong with Kildare & Glendalough Choral Union Festival, supported by @cilldara2016 & @DeptCultureIRL. Reflecting on a Choral Festival centenary with an inaugural performance of "Brigid, the exalted one" by composer Peter Whyte.

@bowbrick @Valancourt_B Came back to Ireland Separated from husband around 1970 who went back to England - probably divorced though she seemed unsure. She was 43 in May 1980 which means she was born around 1936-7 in Donegal.

In all our years of doing this, we have never been stumped like this. This woman, Margaret O'Donnell, wrote one book, THE BEEHIVE (1980). We've tried everything to find her estate. It's like she's a ghost, like she never existed. Anyone who can help us trace her wins a prize.
