At a meeting on Friday I was reminded of how much work we need to do in Ireland to modernise and upgrade our existing rail network. Looking at the statistics, you can see how much work we need to do to even get to the EU average of approx. 57%.

New entrance to Deerpark in Mount Merrion. At a cost of €753,528.43, built by Actavo (Ireland) Ltd. Works included new steps, ramp, railings, stone walls, paving & landscaping to improve safety & accessibility. Much needed improvements, but I thinks its fair to ask: why does an entrance to a park cost three-quarters of a million euro? Is this value for money?
