BREAKING : This is Stupidity at best 🤣 Journalist –– You said Iranians want bombings to continue. Why would they want their own country destroyed? 🇺🇸 Trump –– "They are most unhappy when bombs stop. They want to be free" 😭 Bombs make people free? Free from what? Free from the world?

@dunkhippo33 This seems related to one of your earlier posts about whether investors are treating founders better or worse these days. Apart from valuations, are there other indications for greater respect for founders ?

Who should pay for a potential Iran war? Not who will—but who should. Should those who encourage escalation also share the cost? Aligns with perspectives from @CinziaBianco @KarenEYoung G4G Consensus markets

@ShawzinMark I mostly agree. Another way of looking at it is you can have liberty or equality of outcomes - but you can’t have both. Seems the movement towards engineering equality of outcomes is taking precedence over liberty. That maybe hard to reverse - but we need to

The Core Issue of the 2024 Election: Liberty vs. Government Overreach Given the current state of affairs—the polarization, confusion about American heritage, and a growing disregard for our founding principles—it’s not an exaggeration to say that America and the world are at a key inflection point. Decades ago, philosopher Ayn Rand warned we are fast approaching the stage of, "The ultimate inversion; where government becomes free to do as it pleases, while citizens can act only with permission". I believe the upcoming 2024 election may very well be an "Inversion Election"—a pivotal choice between continuing the 248-year experiment in liberty and individual rights, or embracing a path of expanded central government authority and control. Sadly, we are now approaching this inversion. The values of individual liberty and free speech, once foundational to our national identity, are no longer universally upheld. As a result, we risk losing not only our identity as a nation but the core principles on which America was founded. “America was built by rugged individuals who created government to secure their rights and then be left alone”. “But today, too many Americans want the government to violate others' rights, take their property, and redistribute it to themselves. The "home of the free" is fast becoming the "land of the freeloader." (Peter Schiff). Tuesday night's debate underscored a key failure by Donald Trump and his surrogates to clearly communicate the core issue of this election: do the American people want to preserve a government rooted in individual rights and freedoms, personal responsibility, accountability, self-reliance, creativity, and innovation, or choose the path of an expansive central government, a welfare state, and a culture of victimhood? Despite facing an opponent with numerous vulnerabilities—such as support for policies that threaten America's foundations, including illegal immigration, lenient district attorneys who fail to enforce existing laws, the indoctrination of children through CRT and gender re-education, price controls, higher capital gains taxes, taxes on unrealized profits, a push for expanded central government authority, and policies that perpetuate endless wars—Trump allowed himself to be sidetracked by distractions. American voters today are overwhelmed with complexity and noise, compounded by manipulation from the mainstream media. It is becoming increasingly difficult for even the most informed citizen to sift through the chaos and grasp the real stakes in this election. Yet, at its heart, this election offers a straightforward decision: which form of government do Americans want to shape their future? This election is eerily similar to 1980, when voters faced a stark choice between Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. Carter, like today’s Democrats, oversaw rampant inflation, high energy costs, tensions with foreign powers, and a heavy-handed government. Reagan, on the other hand, believed in the American people's ability to succeed without government interference. He famously declared, "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government, and I'm here to help.'" Reagan’s message was clear: the government is not the solution to our problems; in most cases, it is the problem. Reagan’s belief in limited government and individual autonomy, was echoed at the same time, across the Atlantic by Margaret Thatcher, who was making the same case to the British people: excessive government intervention was strangling individual freedom and economic prosperity. Both Reagan and Thatcher cautioned against the dangers of excessive government control, and their warnings were validated by the economic booms in both the US and the UK, which followed the implementation of policies that emphasized individual self-reliance and innovation rather than government intervention or spending programs. Both Reaganism and Thatcherism were rooted in the belief that individuals, not the state, should be at the center of political and economic life. Their governments championed free markets and strengthened individual autonomy. Today, the progressive left, represented by Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party, seeks to vastly expand government control over the economy and people’s private lives. Their agenda would lead to a massive, bloated government that would stifle economic growth, infringe upon individual freedoms, and suppress free speech. Margaret Thatcher once said, "When the state does everything for you, it will soon take everything from you." That quote from Thatcher perfectly encapsulates the choice before us in this election: Do we preserve the principles of individual rights, liberty, and property protection that the American Constitution and Bill of Rights were founded upon? Or do we surrender to a government that will strangle our economic and personal freedoms? This is a choice election: between individual rights and collectivism, between liberty and tyranny, between lawlessness and the rule of law, between chaos and order. If Donald Trump and his surrogates fail to clarify this message, they will not only lose the election but fail the American people. Worse, they will miss a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to turn around a country on the verge of losing its way. The time for clear messaging is now. The stakes could not higher.

@BillAckman @CNN @realDonaldTrump Trump seems to be a change agent. His actions, no matter what you think for them, are exposing weaknesses in our political and judicial systems as they react to his controversies. His greatest (contribution may be in purifying political and judicial bias and overreach.

.@CNN provides prima facia evidence that the @realDonaldTrump NY case is a politically motivated prosecution. This is an embarrassment to our country’s legal system. Democracy and justice depend on the fair application of our prosecutorial resources. Allowing a witness for the prosecution to get away with a more serious crime in exchange for testimony that the prosecution hopes will convict a political target of a lesser crime is a low point for the Democratic Party’s political and legal machine. And how could anyone on a jury rely on Cohen’s testimony in light of the above? This is a real low point for our democracy and the credibility of NY’s attorney general.

CNN legal expert Elie Honig on Michael Cohen's admission that he stole $60,000 from the Trump Organization: "They gave him a free pass. He committed larceny, it's a higher degree of a felony than what Donald Trump is charged with. Yet they gave Michael Cohen a free pass even though he's now admitted that he stole what amounts to $60,000. It goes to his credibility, it goes to his relationship with the D.A."
