I keep mentioning that people use LinkedIn all wrong, so I put together a piece of (well documented) research to explain why I believe reposting your company's "thought leadership" does nothing for both you and your firm. Brand trust is shifting from institutions to individual executives, so it is imperative we understand how to make use of this change in approach effectively. Key ideas: > Executive celebrity and intellectual authority are now the primary drivers of brand equity > Research-driven thought leadership delivers an average ROI of 156% in B2B, far surpassing traditional marketing > Trust is built through strategic vulnerability, operational transparency, and the cultivation of parasocial relationships on digital platforms > To mitigate Key Person Risk, firms must adopt a "polyphonic" communication model, distributing authority across multiple leaders > The strategy requires a "Hub-and-Spoke" content model and a human-centric approach, where AI amplifies, but does not replace, authentic human expertise and storytelling More in the screenshots below. (If you want the whole document leave a comment and I'll send it to you)

Big edge for consultants, actually. When the team who sold the project is also the team who delivers it, you are collapsing a very old and very destructive split in the consulting model: the split between intent and execution. In most large firms, Partners sell the dream and analysts deliver the various PowerPoints the Partner sold. The people who made whatever promises do not bear the operational pain of keeping them, and that imho creates a moral hazard. When the same team sells and delivers, that feedback loop closes. Every sentence in the proposal is a future hour of your life: you self-regulate your ambition with realism. You sell what you can own. Paradoxically, I even think that increases ambition because the team becomes invested in making the impossible work, not just in signing the deal. There is another layer to it. When delivery is disconnected from sales, you turn consultants into mercenaries, ie interchangeable executors of someone else's vision. But when delivery owns the sale, they become founders of that engagement. The project becomes a micro-enterprise, not "just another transaction." What I see is a lot of big consulting firms that have industrialized something that was meant to be artisanal. The "Partner sells / juniors deliver" model is efficient for revenue recognition, but it is corrosive for trust.

This post-race interview is so good. We often forget the sacrifices pro athletes make. The same goes for any pursuit of the very top: It comes at great cost.

Last March, I had 7 followers. Everyone ignored me online. But I wanted to help people with my skill: Help people design their dream business model. I was a management consultant for 6 years so I’ve done it with 30+ complex businesses. To validate that founders needed my help, I had to get quick feedback. But I had 7 followers. No one listened to me. So I kept asking people online. Until I started finding phrases that resonated. • “Build a customer-base, not a follower-base.” • “You shouldn’t have to hope every time you post.” • “Don’t waste months building something no one wants” Testing through posts helped me narrow down who wants help and what they need. Today, I have 77,000 followers across LinkedIn + Twitter. *** So I’ve since taken my process and turned it into a repeatable system (so you don’t spend as long as I did to figure it out): 1 | Take your business idea 2 | Post it a bunch of different ways 3 | Pay attention to what gets the most excitement And here’s the thing: it’s built for founders who don’t have a following. *** Because when you don’t have followers you have 2 problems that stop people from seeing your tests: 1 | Content doesn’t grab attention 2 | Content isn’t shared to people I’ve solved for both. *** So this Thursday, I’m sharing how I tested my business ideas online in a free webinar. If you’d like to join us: Comment “validate” and I’ll DM you with the invites.
