Please tell me why the fuck would i display an American flag at my house when I have newly racist neighbours who already came by to tell me that I don’t belong in the neighborhood cuz im brown🧍 they did this with my broken leg in front of them too😭 I WAS BORN IN AMERICA
Amy Nixon@texasrunnerDFW

When we moved to Texas 6 years ago, about 75% of the homes in our neighborhood displayed American Flags on Memorial Day and 4th of July Weekend Today, only about 25% of homes do Of all the changes to America and North Texas in the last 5 years, this one saddens me most

@mark_pusateri3 @haveaconcern Well some people are just down right stupid and we know stupid is something we can't fix. We see or hear about it all the time. Just watch these protesters and you can see it in each one's eyes and reactions

As an American citizen I have the right to buy any property I want in any neighborhood. Without restrictions. There is no law that says I have to abide by HOA rules or regulations (PERIOD) . So you people stop with the Dont buy a house if you don't want to comply with the rules.

That's something that I don't understand is why buy where you are controlled. Even with large amounts of land like 5 to 20 acres and they have a HOA why??. That's one's I've run into before and find that I have to get permission just to do something for a client seems stupid to require that..

I’m surprised I’m not forced to pay taxes on the fin air I breathe while slaving for 18.00 an hour trying to keep a roof over my head while being single with NO KIDS!!!! My car is paid off thank god or Id be living in it. I don’t think the evil Government fraud trolls give a shit. The people of Julius Caesar loved him because he gave Rome victories, wealth, public games, debt relief, and land for veterans and the poor. Nobody gives us-The American People- anything.

Somehow the "free markets provide stuff efficiently" bros never seem to be interested in examining how landlords just raise rents without needing to cover increasing costs.
Gemma@windupgemma

My last rent increase was because the landlord noticed that the market rate for the area had gone up Not because his costs went up, but because other landlords were charging more in my area and my landlord felt left out and thought I should pay him more for the same thing

Put South Africa First
Most “white” countries became rich through centuries of land theft, slavery, resource plunder, and rigged trade, then locked in their advantage with global institutions and rules written in their favour. If you loot the world for 400 years, then point at the people you looted and ask “why are you poor?”, that’s not a serious question, it’s propaganda.
Natania Marshall ✞@NataniaMarshall

The same people who blame all the world’s problems on white people can never explain why there’s no white third world countries.

Billionaires cause poverty, they don’t fix it. The money supply is infinite but so is the possibility of obscene wealth in a system that permits billionaires. They aren’t a benefit, they’re a cancerous symptom of exclusion and extraction, of appropriation and exploitation.
Chris Freiman@cafreiman

Actually, both billionaires and immigrants are good for economy. Anti-billionaire and anti-immigration beliefs tend to result from the mistaken view that there’s a fixed sum of wealth.

I’ll never understand why people don’t want to tax billionaires more. They would still be billionaires. You’re not really taking anything from them, just what they’re hoarding. They’ve profited off everyone else, so shouldn’t they give back?

Something I don’t miss about being in the US: Obligatory 20% tips at restaurants. This doesn’t exist in the rest of the world. How did US restauranteurs convince customers to cover their payroll. Makes no sense.

Nearly all net-positive interstate migration in the US is to the worst states in the country, make it make sense What we *should* be doing is acknowledging that nearly every red state is a failed state and unpacking why that is and emulating what the blue/purple states are doing

@GordonSjdin @Tori_TLCR Not exactly how that usually works. More likely that as the population grew people with greater means were priced out of closer in neighborhoods and moved into more marginal neighborhoods seeking bargains. You know, gentrification.

In 1997 my boomer mom paid $525/mo or $6,300/year rent for a 3 bedroom house in Thunder Bay, Ontario. If rent only increased for inflation, that's $966.63 month or $11,599/year. (CAD 2025) But rent doesn't work like that. Market rent in 2025 in Thunder Bay for a 3 bedroom was

Everyone says rent went up because of inflation. That is backwards. Rent is not reacting to inflation. Rent is creating it. Landlords raising rent 10% a year on millions of units. No improvements. No justification. Just because they can. And because working people have nowhere else to go. Nobody in power has proposed a single meaningful solution. Because the people in power are the landlords.

As boomers die, I beg fellow Gen X-ers not to fill the gap. Your dad did not fight a war. Your mum didn't always cook from scratch. Most of you had shoes, TVs, the odd meal out. You can't do, "do you remember Walkmans" *&* "we never went to Wimpy" at the same time.
