Just cashed out some crypto profits and went and grabbed a new car a day ago . Today my coach and I ran a trade and cleared a little over $40K in about three hours. Big shoutout to @TennesseTracy it’s really been paying off for me.

I’m honestly so excited right now. All the hard work I put into crypto finally paid off just picked up a brand-new car. Big shoutout to my coach, @TennesseTracy, for guiding me every step of the way. Truly grateful, I couldn’t have done this without her.

@TrevorImmelman In the Phillipines they start playing Christmas music in malls in September. At least it's fun to see kids so excited!

Pierceson Coody has been an intriguing prospect for a few years. Next year could be the year he fulfills that promise. He already has his PGA TOUR card for 2026 after finishing 12th on this year’s @KornFerryTour points list. He did it in just 15 starts, the fewest among any of this year’s KFT grads. Now he’s contending on the PGA TOUR for the second time in four starts (he was T3 at the 3M). Coody has always had the pedigree, but he also has been a volatile player. But he is starting to show the increased consistency that is ideal for a pro. He had 7 top-10s in his first 10 starts on the KFT this year. In a small sample size on the PGA TOUR (13 events), he has statistically been the TOUR’s top driver. His Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee this year is +0.748. That is equal to Scottie Scheffler’s TOUR-leading mark. That’s a big jump for Coody, who ranked 89th in that stat last year. That improved driving could help him capitalize on his obvious talent. He was No. 1 in both the World Amateur Golf Ranking and @PGATOURU while he was at @TexasMGolf. He won in just his third @KornFerryTour start as a pro, and won 3 times on that tour in his first 26 starts. As a PGA TOUR rookie last year, he lost in a playoff at the Isco and was T5 at Colonial, but finished 131st in the FedExCup to retain only conditional status. He’ll have a card again in 2026, and I’m bullish on his upcoming season.

@BrentleyGC Now: "don't see the need for the bumper" Last season you wrote: Nov 12, 24: "Feels like the system might be overcompensating for blowouts" Feb 3, 25 "Are blowout wins skewing the points too much?" FAQ: Bumper also requires a large differential between event and season performance

probably sooner, but everyone can agree right now not enough data and that's OK! I personally would love to see the ranking after 2 events. And also, don't see the need for the bumper on Blessings since last year it would've only dropped Arkansas one spot to third per @CGolfBook. But I think everyone just wants to know what a runaway is ... is it a set number of shots? So just bogey the last hole to get under the threshhold?

Have gotten this question a couple times, but looking like Arkansas women are receiving far fewer points for Blessings win (4.51 event SG) than other events with similar event SG. For example, Arkansas got 78.26 points for Blessings win while USC got 121.35 for a 4.21 event SG. I'm surely missing something, but hoping @MarkBroadie can provide the answer!

@BrentleyGC I'm glad you say the team rankings looked good (by May)!

Apples and oranges! One is questioning why two similar results produce vastly different point totals, and then other is questioning why we are arbitrarily determining that Arkansas isn't good enough to warrant full points -- and not just full points but 60~ fewer – for their home event. Also, the explainer doesn't tell us what constitutes a runaway. Does this also apply to teams when they lose by a lot, which would also be an anomaly? And the rankings themselves have grown on me -- and I've also been on record recently saying that by May the team rankings look really good, which is the objective.

Trying to figure out how @Clippdscore ranking points are awarded for ind winners. For Wohali the winner got 138.51 while the winner at Fighting Illini got 113.47. Wagr ranks the Wohali at 601.6077 in Power while Fighting Illini has 935.833. @MarkBroadie can you help to explain?

@CGolfBook Strength of field is measured by the average SG of teams (or individuals) in the field. This is consistent with how the ranking calculations are done. (There are other ways to define strength of field, e.g., 'difficulty to win'.)

@MarkBroadie You may have addressed this somewhere else, but how is the Strength of Field calculated?

@AgoraGolf @FredrikSvard @Clippdscore Beating a strong field gets more points than beating a weak field by the same amount. This ensures that there is no advantage playing in strong or weak events.

@MarkBroadie @FredrikSvard @Clippdscore So, playing a lesser field but beating them by more gets more points. If the winning margin was the same, they would get similar points? Basically, I guess I'm asking, if playing ranking instead of golf, would it be better to schedule lesser opponents?

@paulwood79 @Ehenrik Not very many shots in the 60-100 yard range. More important to focus inside 50 yards.

I was reminded of this great data visualization by the incomparable @Ehenrik today. It shows the distribution of shot probability for an average golfer (with drive distance 225-239 yards) faces in a round, ordered by distance to hole and coloured by club selection. #GolfScience

@JustinRayGolf @MarkBroadie Anecdotally, I would say 90% of rounds I’ve witnessed with 100-feet or more of made putts tend to be great putting rounds in SG, but it certainly shows how SG has provided superior context of good.

Wild to have over 450 feet worth of putts and only be 2nd in putting, but Walker has missed 3 putts inside of 5 feet, including a 2-footer!

I think that’s a great point. These guys were mid-20s when @MarkBroadie’s book came out, as well. They were probably able to benefit from and implement some of the learnings/conclusions that came out of it but didn’t completely build their game around some of the excesses that followed, i.e. later generations where speed was perhaps overemphasized? It feels like we’ve found a happy medium that acknowledges the importance of speed but also recognizes that it’s not something to be pursued at all costs?
