@KnsfwY2 @Blackmoor_Film I flat out won't accept a backstory where I haven't had a discussion with the player. We either work together or you get a boring backstory. It's best when the story is told as a group. That's the reason I play.

@Blackmoor_Film That, I'd have put the brakes on. It's one thing to wedge a minor duchy into a kingdom on the edge of civilization, someone who wanted to claim they were the king is someone I'd let the other players bully for my amusement.

Since we're chatting about PC Back Story today, I will elucidate. Back story is great for players who want to know their PC better. Here is the rub for me: When players begin to write the World Story via PC back story they are Railroading their Game Master. It SEEMS to me players now demand their Back Story become the Story Arc presented by their referee even if it goes against world story. What one can do instead is sit down with a Ref and discuss PC objectives which they create together. World Story trumps Back Story IMHO. #DnD
