@StigAbell Ever read the Merchant of Prato? Similar era, relating to Tuscany. Very evocative and deeply personal account of one family.

I have been reading a bit of medieval history recently (including in the bath), and this is such a clever and enjoyable book. Written more than 45 years ago, it’s the tale of the fourteenth century through the life of a French noble family. Heartily recommend.

Two deceased animals found at Waterworks Park have tested positive for bird flu. While the park remains open, I would encourage everyone to take extra care & follow the guidance. You should not touch sick or dead birds or animals, keep pets away from them, avoid contaminated surfaces or untreated feathers & maintain good hygiene through regular handwashing & sanitiser.
