@paradooprime @todd_venning Not that we ever had heavy skinned sheep but since stopping mulesing 7 years ago ago and tweaking the breeding to accomodate I’d never go back. More lambs weaned, lambs that turn into trade lambs within 8 months, maintained FD and fleece weight. And they just want to grow.

@todd_venning I’ll let them respond or the consultants that support their production outcomes. It’s easy being critical so show us the money Todd. Give them a call , go see them and compare your numbers. I’ll leave it at that. I can send some numbers if u like?

A long long way to go in the sheep industry. Laggards threatening prime lamb and progressive wool producers and the integrity of the commodities we market.

@k_bolto @Agrivetbusiness @paradooprime I’ll challenge him, 20 years experience on the ground tells me it’s been bloody good for our pastures, our sheep productivity and the environment. It’s not all about having the best benchmarking results

@Agrivetbusiness @paradooprime @markjarvo1978 From release photos in X people seem to over cook containment so sheep have feed up to their guts. I think many got the. Message that it what good farmers do but over use it. In early out late. Good on @Agrivetbusiness For raising this. Few would dare challenge

Next year marks 20 years since we and a number of my friends and clients implemented modern containment areas. Large , well watered efficient areas to hold and feed livestock to protect pastures , soils, reduce labour costs and importantly to build up a winter feed wedge.

@markjarvo1978 Just listened to a podcast which refers to containment as new tool for livestock businesses. That is great and I think it’s awesome but had a grin on how long it takes for the wheels to turn. We are getting old Jarvo but good to be well ahead of the game😂

A nice bucket to finish October. Weather forecasters for our region bang on since June.

Main catchment dams are full but this makes us water assured quantity wise and water quality for intensive feeding. 50 m off power and 35 m from 75mm main water line. More exploration required in our area as there has been a number of bores found recently which is great.

If you think that wind turbines are going into the prestine Redgum tablelands then think again. They are going to have a massive fight on their hands. Our beautiful landscape will be ruined along with the giant, hundreds of year old redgumd heavily spread across our rolling hills

2 weeks post weaning on commercials and feed exploding. Urea , Progibb and, non saturated soils allowing for higher than normal soil temps has seen enormous pasture growth. If you have fertility, productive species and leaf area .need as much rain as we can get from here on🤞

@paradooprime Yep it’s nuts. Lots of them young ones I assume have come from recent harvested blue gums.

So is anyone out there feeling the pain from plague proportions of kangaroos invading our farms , mostly from Blue Gum plantation havens. Shutting up paddocks of valuable pasture seems a fruitless exercise. Weren’t these trees meant save the planet. Bloody enviro&$$ disaster

40 mls in 6 months is a challenge. Wettest 3 months coming up in our winter dominant climate and we will have to have some serious rain on the way to hit 600 mm longterm average. A mild winter would be best but we need 30 ml soon🙏🤞.

@87Wlc @Yangya182 Yeah it’s the only way me made it work. Just sit it in hot water 20mins before it’s needed. Once it’s warm seems ok for the duration of emptying it
