The wonderful @woodbridgebks window display. @markleecarter thought you would appreciate the new ABC #TaylorSwift board book. I wonder what the Z is for?! #readingforpleasure

A fun week last week convening and teaching @LondonRareBooks CHILDREN'S BOOKS. Huge thanks to all my excellent guest tutors, @markleecarter, @kaywaddilove67, @DrEmilyCorbett, Professor Martin Salisbury and @cgsloan, to guest speakers Abigail Reynolds and @CathAMClarke...

@Ebonyteach This was the very first film I saw in the cinema when I was 7 or 8. The wheelies were the most terrifying thing I had ever seen but I loved it.

@TriciaAyrton @LondonRareBooks @pykelets Hmmm, it doesn't ring any bells - the only Mother Alphabet reference I've been able to find is this rather brilliant-looking example from 1917. Any more clues/date range/format?

English

@markleecarter @LondonRareBooks @pykelets I have been hunting for an Alphabet book that I once had and have now lost for many years. It was about a character called (I think) Mother Alphabet and her children. Can you help?

I *think* I have finally narrowed down the selection of ABC books to bring for my session at the @LondonRareBooks summer school with @pykelets tomorrow. I just hope I can carry them all!

Fantastic start of my week long course on children's books @LondonRareBooks talking about their impossible existence with @pykelets and about the many messages in and roles of ABC books with @markleecarter
Loved every minute of it! Head bursting with new research ideas 🤯🤯🤯

@theTLtweets @LondonRareBooks @pykelets Don't worry, they are on a table, not the floor! (And now safely in archival boxes inside the suitcases)
English

@markleecarter @LondonRareBooks @pykelets The librarian in me is screaming to pick them up from the floor*, the child, cannot wait to read them all!😄
*and alphabetise them, obsv. 😌

@evey_reidy Your paper was so good, Evey! A great start to a great day.

We are so accustomed to abc books that follow the a=apple, b=ball format that we can forget there are other possibillities as beautifully explored in this wonderful work by @jhope10 and @mumblerik, B is Two Bubbles
