It's actually insane that Ishiro Honda didn't direct Godzilla Raids Again (1955). A quote from Honda from the Honda biography: "They had to start filming right away," Honda said. "Since I was already working on something else and the company had not yet determined that I was a monster-movie guy, they decided it did not matter who worked on it. Or maybe for them it was not important to wait until I was free." According to his recollection, the reviews for Raids Again were more positive than his film (whether that's true or not, that's how he remembers it). They were able to get basically every major player from the first film back for the second, with the sole exception of Honda.
