The low cost of living AND many other advantages of Thailand do offset the downsides. The 3 biggest downsides: Air quality Tap water Traffic Buy air purifiers for home and/move to southern Thailand for better air. Or deal with it because it isn’t that bad. Bottled water is super cheap. Traffic is really bad only in/near Bangkok and Phuket. Bangkok’s transit system is better than any American city.
