We should stop calling it “vibe coding” when it’s software engineers writing production software, paying close attention, thinking a lot, validating before committing, closing the loop… and yes they prompt an agent/work with it.

Today was proof that fully polished new products can be built entirely with “vibe coding” tools like Claude Code. Many people, espp in BigTech, who still don’t believe it: – you haven’t tried the latest models – you don’t have the right setup – codebase is still too large – your code style is not well-represented in the training data All 4 of these are entirely self-imposed problems. You will be outrun on product velocity if you aren’t adopting these tools.

Probably bait but thanks for trying anyways. :) Search is coming. You can rename tabs today (it’s in the menu bar and command palette). But none of that matters here, all that matters is you’re happy using whatever terminal you’re using and you gave it a shot. It’s not for everyone and that’s okay. ❤️

Yesterday was an incredible day for our merchants and for Shopify:
* Merchants drove a record-breaking $5 billion Black Friday in sales (GMV)
* Peak sales / minute for yesterday = $4.6 million
* Shopify's egress processed more than 173B requests
* Peak requests per minute was at 284 million on edge, with more than 80 million on app servers pushing 12TB a minute
* 45 million peak database queries per second, peak database writes was 7.6 million per second
* We rely on Kafka. At peak we hit 66 million messages per second
