@McFaul The Falklands War was a defensive war from a UK perspective. However the Falkland Islands are not within the geographical scope of Article 5 (Europe and North America) so the UK could not have invoked Article 5.

This new Trump & team argument that NATO is failing the US by not supporting the US war of choice in Iran is ahistorical. NATO is a defensive alliance. NATO traditionally has never followed a NATO ally into wars of choice, including:
US war in Iraq.
UK war in the Falklands
France's war with Algeria
Portugal's wars in Angola/Mozambique
US war in Vietnam
Turkey's war/occupation in Cyprus
I could go on.

It’s a myth that 🇬🇱 controls the Arctic sea routes. The key one is thousands of kilometers away from 🇬🇱 and is controlled by 🇷🇺 and the more nearby one is controlled by the ally 🇨🇦. And 🇺🇸 is by the Berings Strait that connects both of them with the Pacific Ocean.

1) That boat could never have made it from Venezuela to the US
2) Drug trafficking does not carry the death penalty under any US federal or state law

Earlier this morning, on President Trump's orders, I directed a lethal, kinetic strike on a narco-trafficking vessel affiliated with Designated Terrorist Organizations in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility. Four male narco-terrorists aboard the vessel were killed in the strike, and no U.S. forces were harmed in the operation.
