@PriestleyMatty It’s not like that playbook hasn’t be used before during the Suez Crisis that brought down a British Prime Minister. People never learn from history.

@markydh I think people didn't realise just how well thought out their plan was. Got absolutely no love for the Iranian leadership, but you have to admire them utilising oil shipping lanes as a war strategy.

@MaxineMountney @lewis_goodall @Frances_Coppola I’m no economist and there are far cleverer people than me who could answer that question. The way I understand it is that it’s a nuclear option that could dismantle the US economy but the world wouldn’t be immune to the effects of that which is why it’ll never happen.

What’s more, they only need that help because they started a war with no plan and with sheer hubris. They genuinely believed Iran would crumble immediately and that there would be no adverse consequences.

But I thought the US didn’t need allies? You can’t go around 2 months ago threatening NATO countries and then expect them to jump when you suddenly decide you might need their help after all 😂

It’s not just talent, either. Loads of stories coming out from Spurs about how he’s emerged as a leader in their dressing room and it’s looked like that whenever I’ve seen them play, too.

There’s a reason a succession of Spurs managers have seen fit to elevate Archie Gray above more experienced and lauded players, in many different positions, even when they are fit and available. Plenty of my fellow #lufc fans tried to pretend he wasn’t a class apart, too #lufc

Atletico's Marcos Llorente runs over to Archie Gray to shake his hand before Gray walks off to be substituted. He's been outstanding tonight. #THFC

Welsh Reform politician the ONLY Senedd Member to vote against a new law stopping politicians from lying. On Tuesday the Senedd passed a new bill which will make it illegal for candidates to lie during Senedd elections. The law means Welsh ministers will make it a criminal offence for future candidates to knowingly make false or misleading statements. It also establishes a recall system that will allow the public to remove a politician from office if they break the rules. Reform’s Laura Anne Jones was the only one who voted against the bill, with 50 MSs backing it. We can find no record of Ms Jones speaking during the debate, even though she was present.

A massively consequential investigation by Alan Rusbridger into GB News: how "one political party in Britain has effectively ended up with its own television station". Raises deep questions about hi-jacking of British media/political culture: thenewworld.co.uk/alan-rusbridge…

Tony Powell was a secretly gay footballer for Norwich City in the 1970s. He was team-mates with Justin Fashanu, the first English footballer to come out, but Tony had to abandon his family. I interviewed Tony and @robbierogers about his incredible story theguardian.com/football/2026/…

@EastLeedsLad I’m sorry, but you don’t win home games by being more worried about what the opposition can do to you than what you can do to them. They’re not Arsenal.

@EastLeedsLad From open play. They defend their box very well from set pieces. We have been dogshit in open play for most of this calendar year and aren’t even threatening from set pieces anymore.

Brentford play good football at times and they are very strong at defending set pieces. We haven’t scored at all in the last 3 league games and haven’t scored an open play goal for over a month, which came from an horrendous mix up in the Chelsea defence. It’s a concern #lufc

Daniel Farke needs to worry less about how we can stop them hurting us and more about how we can hurt them. Wins are what are needed, now. We are so reliant on our home form that we playing for a point in the first instance no longer cuts it #lufc

Farke played a more attacking XI yesterday and we still barely looked like scoring from open play before the sending off, let alone after it. Summer recruitment has to concentrate on a less conservative coach and players who are more than just functional big bastards… #lufc
