I keep coming back to this idea: centralized services will fail us. They will fail us in obvious ways (like with painful outages) and they will fails in ways unseen (like secretly handing data to the government or undermining their own security or violating the trust of users). Decentralized tech offers a way out of a power system that's fundamentally flawed.
