In trying to distance himself from Danielle Smith's overtures to Trump, Pierre Poilievre has criticized Canada open borders and partially blamed them for violent crime, proposed tax cuts, and called the Liberals radical, post-national open-border globalists so far this morning

Why Canada? Because if Trump can grab Canada, then Putin can grab Ukraine -- and Poland. And Xi can grab Taiwan. This is a group of dictators wanting to bring back imperialism, reviving the murderous norm that a major power can do whatever it wants in its own backyard.

The self-appointed "patriots" of the freedom convoy are also the first to volunteer their submission to American imperialism. Funny, that.

As I predicted here a week ago, Putin has thrown Assad under the bus to prolong his war in Ukraine. His resources are scarce, and he is not as strong as he pretends. To those claiming Russia cannot be defeated and that Ukraine must concede, or to those arguing the West lacks resources to confront Putin—you better stop misleading the public and advancing the agenda of a “great” Russia. Being eventually exposed as fools and losers is likely not something you’re looking forward to. The strategies that gained prominence during the Cold War on the assumption that Russia matters now risk leading the West to defeat in this era of hot wars waged by Russia to showcase Western weakness to the whole world.

I had someone I respect ask me today why I would ever fundraise for Ukraine. I said they’re some great people that we’re in touch with and helping save lives with this equipment. He laughed and said, “they’re Nazis”. Still kinda processing that, for a few different reasons. There's plenty of disagreement to be had on policy. But it's offensive, and honestly lazy, to hear the young soldiers pulled into this war labeled Nazis. These are warriors risking their life every day to protect their families and their country. There's few things more honorable, more noble in life than that. Sometimes I wish the people saying that could just talk with one of these warriors at the front. It doesn't take but a few minutes to realize they're just like all of us and would rather be doing just about anything other than fighting a war. Which brings me all the way around to you all. Thank you for contributing and sharing the current and past fundraisers. I talk with the recipients near daily and not only are they not Nazis, they’re good people who are doing their best in a real shitty situation forced upon them. It’s an honor to play any part, no matter how small, in helping good people fight for their families and their country. Thank you all for being here and allowing that to happen. 🙏🫡

90 years ago, the Soviet regime killed 7 million Ukrainians in a genocide called Holodomor. They were mostly from villages. My great-grandmother survived, but two of my great-granddads died. Here is the work of Malevich dedicated to Holodomor. Thread of 🇺🇦 art and Holodomor.🧵

Dear Russian people, Very few Americans want war with you. Most of us are glad the Cold War ended and want a friendly relationship. The people obsessed with fighting you forever are a minority — and they're on their way out of power. We want peace. Ignore our current leaders.

Co-signed the call for a coalition of the willing—a decisive step to arm Ukraine with the capabilities it needs, secure NATO's eastern flank, and deter Russian aggression. Waiting for others to act is not an option, and hesitation risks everything. Our security, values, and the integrity of the Euro-Atlantic order demand bold, immediate action.

The war has been raging for a thousand days. Tens of thousands of people on both sides have lost their lives. Entire cities have been destroyed, and countless lives upended. And the reasons, unfortunately, are all clear: it’s all for one man’s ambitions.

To those with short memories: Between 2014 and 2022, Ukraine held about 200 rounds of talks with Russia. During this period, 20 cease-fire agreements were reached, all of which were quickly violated by Russia. None of the 200 rounds of talks or the 20 ceasefires have prevented Putin from launching a brutal all-out invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, 2022. Those who argue that Ukraine should negotiate with Russia now are either uninformed or misled, or they side with Russia and want Putin to take a pause before an even larger aggression. We should not and will not fall into this trap.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський
Today, I addressed the participants of an extraordinary session of the European Parliament marking the 1,000th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Every “today” is the best moment to push Russia harder. It is clear that without certain key factors, Russia will lack real motivation to engage in meaningful negotiations: without fires in its ammunition depots on Russian territory, without disrupted military logistics, without destroyed Russian air bases, without its capabilities to produce missiles and drones being eliminated, and without its assets being confiscated. Putin does not value people or rules; he values only money and power. These are the things we must take away from him to restore peace. We must do everything to end this war—fairly, justly, and, of course, together. A thousand days of war is a tremendous challenge. Ukraine deserves to make the next year the year of peace.
