Britain now has some of the highest energy prices in the developed world, despite sitting on huge reserves of oil and gas. Why? Because we’ve pursued Net Zero at any cost, even though the UK produces less than 1% of global emissions. High energy costs drive manufacturing out of Britain. Businesses simply move somewhere cheaper often to China, where companies are heavily subsidised and able to undercut the global market. Meanwhile the United States has done the opposite. By using its own energy, including shale gas, it has driven costs down and brought industry back home. We could be doing the same: develop the North Sea, consider properly regulated fracking, and bring energy prices down. Instead, we’re refusing to use the resources beneath our own feet and our economy is paying the price.
Talk@TalkTV

What has caused Britain's decline? "We've been stupid in opening up as we have done to China. "We've been stupid in ensuring that our energy costs are high." @iancollinsuk @MPIainDS

@HughEaston @latimeralder All of these things are finite resources. Exploration takes years. Shale gas isn’t an exact science add to that in the uk nimbyism It wouldn’t happen.

@latimeralder @martb1985 It's actually way more than 50 years. We have an estimated 40 trillion cubic metres of shale gas, 500 years supply at current consumption.

What's making Britain's electricity right now? Norwegian gas (48%) We pay Norway nigh on £20,000,000,000 per year to sell us North Sea Gas. Which we've banned ourselves from extracting on 'moral grounds' So we pay Norway to do it instead. They get rich

ABSURD Starmer’s ludicrous suggestion to get closer to the EU, a failing economic bloc that has also a long track record of failing to invest in defence. Let’s remember the EU became way too reliant on Russia for gas so their judgement is not to be trusted We must use all our own energy treasure of oil and gas We must invest in our own sovereign capabilities This is why my British Sovereign Wealth Fund plan is so critical

Another pointless press conference from Labour’s Keir Starmer this morning. Literally announced nothing and is doing absolutely nothing. We have the weakest and most incompetent prime minister in history. This Labour government is the worst we’ve ever had. Clueless.

🚨TWO CHILD BENEFIT SCRAPPED From tomorrow, families will be able to receive support for every child, not just the first two. What does this mean? A greater burden on the hardworking taxpayer to fund the offspring of slothful parents. The IFS estimates this measure will cost the public purse up to £4 BILLION every year by 2029. This will entail more government borrowing or higher taxes, as we know Labour will NEVER cut back on spending… Most disappointing though? This DISINCENTIVISES hard work, aspiration and providing for one’s family. Labour takes pity on the poor and lazy by handing them the cash of hard working Brits. Giving to those who DON’T deserve over those who DO is in Labour’s DNA, but it is neither right nor fair.

Instead of a serious energy strategy, drilling the North Sea and building new nuclear plants, Ed Miliband’s grand plan is, an app to save you £40 a year on fuel. This is what passes for leadership now. This government is a shambles.
MrBounceBack.com@Bounce_BackLoan

In a pathetic, last ditch attempt to make it look like the sordid Gov are "saving people money" during the day @Ed_Miliband @RachelReevesMP are going to be rolled out to promote a new "Fuel Finder" page on the Government website that they claim will save people £40 a year

And people wonder why they’re in no rush to offer any support to the people… Has there ever been a government so out of touch with the British people? Raising council taxes Accepting thousands of £ worth of gifts Tax dodger Rayner Sticking the finger up to farmers Letting pensioners freeze through winter False NHS improvement promises Scrapping key infrastructure projects Public sector pay in absolute chaos Numerous party scandals No where near housing targets Most expensive energy in Europe Crushing small businesses Inflation & cost of living still a problem Little to no economic growth and of course… our none existent borders Labour have got it so unbelievably wrong but above all, they have made us look beyond incompetent on the world stage.

@Katie_Lam_MP Katie, I’m sure you get paid handsomely by the fossil fuel lobby but we need to use less not more. We need a better mixture of energy.

For years, institutions covered up grooming gangs because they wouldn't face the truth about the role of ethnicity, religion, or culture. Thanks to survivors and the public, the inquiry will investigate these issues. There's more to do, but this brings us closer to the truth.
Charlie Peters@CDP1882

BREAK @GBNEWS: The national grooming gangs inquiry WILL investigate how ethnicity, culture, or religion influenced the abuse. This is a big shift. Previously the inquiry was only going to look at how those factors influenced institutional responses and failures.

I'm self employed. I've just worked out that I have to charge my customers over £900 per week in order to take home the equivalent yearly wage of someone on the new national minimum wage. So I need to charge over £1,000 per week to be £100 better off than a minimum wage earner. I have 12 individual costs associated with running my one man band business. No holiday pay. No money if I'm off work due to illness or anything else. And this doesn't even take into consideration all the time spent on visiting new customers, pricing work, producing quotes etc, some of which is a complete waste of time when you don't get the work. All time that can't be charged for. This is why, for many self employed people, it's just not worth it any more. I've been self employed for 30 years and it's never been this bad.

Stopping patients getting on a waiting list is not the right way to bring waiting lists down. Every GP must be free to refer patients for diagnosis and treatment as necessary. We need more doctors to see patients.

More Starmer gibberish: "We're not going to get dragged into the war in the Middle East. That's my values, that's my principles." What does that even mean? Sad litte man not invited to join the war, but pretends this was somehow his decision. Stop lying Starmer... we see you!
