This project would not have been #successful without the #hardwork of two #master’s #degree students Eleonora Ferrari and Giulio Di Benedetto (MSc in Molecular and Cell Biology #Fabit @Unibo) who created the #mutants and tested their #metabolism and #growth

Here we demonstrated the key role of a peculiar family of monooxygenase in the capability of #Rhodococus #bacteria to use #alkanes for growth and to degrade the #contaminants #chloroform and #trichloroethane

Thanks to the fruitful collaboration between my group #MEMlab and Prof. Jo de Waele at @Unibo, the group of Dr Ana Zelia Miller at @CSIC in Sevilla, the #Majella National Park and the Forestry Dept of #Palombaro Station in the project Interreg Europe n.608 ADRION-Adriaticaves

We first conducted a #systematic study on how #microbial #communities evolved in the impressive carbonatic structures (#moonmilk) in #Grotta #Nera in the Majella Park (Abruzzo, Italy) probably contributing to their formation.
