Six years ago, @emin_lelic organized a workshop at Salisbury University that launched the Mid-Atlantic Ottomanist Workshop (MAOW) series, building on the model of GLOW and WOW. Since then, MAOW has met at NYU, Mary Washington, Princeton, the University of Richmond, and the 6th MAOW will convene at Rutgers–Newark. Please apply if you are in the region and spread the word!
It’s been such a pleasure to watch MAOW not only continue, but truly grow.

I highly recommend Nir's book to anyone interested in Ottoman book history and questions around manuscript production

In the latest ep, we discuss Nir Shafir's prize-winning book. He examines how pamphlets helped fuel a new arena, largely independent from the institutional centers, where people debated everyday questions of the time about what it meant to be Muslim. 👇ottomanhistorypodcast.com/2025/12/shafir…

#twitterstorians I’m looking for an intensive Turkish class this summer. Any suggestions? Preferably in the Mediterranean area or in Europe. Also online can work

Would love to see the syllabus for this class—now required for history majors: history.fas.harvard.edu/classes/hist-1…

@LaviniaMaddalu1 @vitticomacchi @richardcalis @HistorianDiary The gold standard is the summer intensive at Bogazici, they even have scholarships if I remember correctly from recommending to my own students. There are many options in Istanbul of course but I’m not sure of the rest of the Mediterranean
