Our parents passed down an unhealthy way of approaching marriage to us. You see a young lady who is still in her father’s house. When she goes to fetch water, she lifts two gallons and it’s not heavy for her. But the moment she wants to get married the parents especially the mother will sit her down, and tell her not to show her in-laws she’s strong or knows how to manage 2k to cook soup, so that they don’t take advantage of that. She goes to her husband house in the village with this mentality, there she meets her fellow wives, who their mum also told the-same thing. 9am in the morning, everyone of them is still lazing around waiting for who would enter the kitchen first to make breakfast! The kid’s are hungry, their husbands are husbands are hungry. Only their mother in law understands what is going on. And that is why you see them always having issues with their mother in law’s. This pattern I notice when I was still younger, but na now I confirm am!
