My whole engineering career feels like the same problems over and over - team dysfunction poorly solved with code - caching - distributed transactions - modeling data so it’s just right - data pipelines/transformations - factoring systems so they’re flexible but not too flexible - eventual consistency - observability - feature flags - architecture astronauts I’m tired

@Quikolas17 @petergyang jpegxl would be a better choice at this point IMO. It's unfortunate the Chrome dropped support for it. Generally superior lossless and lossy compression, and a lossless conversion of existing JPEG to JPEG-XL with better compression.

@petergyang Basically a compressed jpeg that's smaller than a png. It allows people to upload high quality images to the web without sacrificing speed. Think of it like a way to optimize load times on your website/blog without sacrificing image quality.

My bid to see my second totality was almost a complete disaster. Thick clouds blocked what felt like 99% of the duration. I got a bit lucky with a fixed camera aimed at the sun, so it wasn’t a complete loss.
