Of all the ideas you have, just pick one you are most passionate about. Ruka nayo. Dont start many businesses in the beginning, they will all come. Dont worry. 2. Dont listen to many advices 3. Dont start looking for an investor now. You will waste your time. Bootstrapping is your best move 4. Dont ask people on social media about which business pays the most. You can ask those who have done it/with professional knowledge 5. Just start as a sole proprietor, you will convert into a limited company later. 6. Plan well. Less than 3 out of 10 businesses see the 3rd year. What about investing? 1. Just buy 10 shares. Dont bother about returns. Enter the game first. Call the stockbroker first thing in January. 2. Invest in a collective investment scheme. Your investment is professionally managed. Start even with 50k 3. Use app/digital platforms to simplify your process. Try Shirkah 4. Invest in knowledge (attend courses, workshops, seminars, finance events) 5. Co-founder/Co-partner for your business. Before bringing in a new co-founder /co-partner into your business when starting, make these things clear from day one. 1. Finances : Who makes the final financial decision 2. Hiring - Who makes the final decision on hiring 3. Ownership - Are you giving the new partner free shares? do they have to earn them? is it properly documented? clear that. 4. Spokesperson: Who speaks for the company, and who responds to investors? make it clear. 5. Vision - Is the new co-founder/partner buy into your vision? lack of common shared vision is a recipe for partners conflicts 6. Dividends- is the new partner ready to wait longer before you start paying yourself dividends? if they want instant gratification, dont bring them on board. 7. Do you have a proper way to fire them and reclaim your shares if they misbehave? sort that out first. 8. Skills: Do they bring complimenting skills? dont bring in your replica. If they cant agree with these principles, start on your own, otherwise wait for conflicts and taking each other to court when business starts making money. Dont fall into the trap of joint-decision making. Once you grow, set up the board and graduate from founder’ syndrome
