@godfree Not necessary to be a “gamer” sure - but knowing gaming in general, and having taste in games, undoubtedly help you create a nuanced strategy and understand lagging/non-spreadsheet indicators that can have a huge impact on the business.

I find it hilarious when people think you need to be a gamer to be a CEO of a gaming company. Unlocking achievements isn't gonna help you sell a console or games. There's a long list of executives who've changed gaming because they're good at the business side, not by how many hours they've played a game.

my 2 cents on Xbox saying Tik Tok is their biggest competitor, they are correct BUT what they are really saying is TIME
Time is the most precious resource in entertainment
You only have so much and whatever garners the most attention wins the competition for your $$$
So yes Tik Tok is a huge time sink as well as forever games like Fortnite and/or streaming services like Netflix
Making a great game isnt enough anymore as our time is already being consumed by multiple forms of entertainment
(this applies to every game publisher too)

My ultimate take is that the best thing for the Destiny IP is to just…stop. Go into maintenance mode, come back in however many years for D3
This doesn’t appear to be “allowed” with endless ongoing revenue demands that don’t allow for breaks, but it’s a recipe for a slow death
