Deeply saddened to hear of the death of His Holiness Pope Francis. His tireless efforts to promote a world that is fairer for all will leave a lasting legacy. On behalf of the people of the United Kingdom, I share my sincerest condolences to the whole Catholic Church.

Nobody is coming to save the people of Gaza. Right now, we must bear witness for the reckoning to come.

If you want to understand who the journalists in Gaza really are, read this. Ashraf Amra is a freelance journalist and photographer working for international media outlets like Reuters, AP, and others. Mohammad Faik Abu Mustafa is a freelancer working for Reuters. However, they are not exactly journalists. During a live Instagram broadcast on October 7th from the Israel-Gaza border, Amra stated, "I just returned from the Khuzaa area... on the eastern border of the Gaza Strip. Dozens of armed Palestinian men stormed relentlessly towards the border, heading towards settlements around Gaza." Abu Mustafa, in a later Instagram live with Amra, said, "We were there two hours ago, from the beginning." He described what he witnessed at the border and inside Israel, in the city of Sderot. He also narrated an incident where Israelis hid in a room before being captured by Hamas militants. Abu Mustafa advised viewers, "Those who can leave - leave. It's a one-time event that won't repeat itself." Amra responded, "Indeed, it won't repeat itself." (You can see all this in the videos here) Amra allowed Abu Mustafa, who had just returned from Israeli territory, to showcase the cruel actions he had captured on his phone at the breached border while they laughed. The images of Hamas at the border, taken by Abu Mustafa, were selected by Reuters and The New York Times as part of their "Pictures of the Year" for 2023. Several media outlets published the widely circulated image of a tractor knocking down the border fence between Israel and Gaza, credited to "Ashraf Amra/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images." Reuters chose another image of Amra, taken on October 7th inside Gaza, as one of their "Photos of the Month" for October 2023. Their celebrations on October 7th and their call to join Hamas during a live broadcast, coinciding with Israel's retaliation for the killing of innocent Israelis by Hamas on the same day, are disturbing. Yet, these "journalists" have connections with the leaders of the Hamas terrorist organization. When Amra was injured and hospitalized in Istanbul in September, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh personally visited him, praising his role in exposing the "crimes of the occupation." Amra assured Haniyeh that the injury wouldn't hinder his return to his "national duty." In 2012, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh awarded the "journalist" Ashraf Amra with an honor. Moreover, photos taken by these "journalists" in Gaza prove they have easy and close access to the leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization. Amra and Abu Mustafa are #TerroristsNotJournalists. All of this demonstrates that the media outlets that employed these "journalists" did not properly vet them before hiring, or they were not bothered by Amra and Abu Mustafa's ties to terror organizations in Gaza. This serves as a reminder for all of us: Most "journalists" in Gaza are not journalists but rather terror activists collaborating with and connected to Hamas. The real journalists in Gaza cannot tell the truth because the dictatorial and terrorist rule in Gaza does not allow them to report the truth. If they do, Hamas will kill them.

Israel has deployed thousands of troops into Syria, replacing UN peacekeepers in a 50-mile buffer zone. As part of a new defense doctrine, the move aims to prevent future surprise attacks by building positions beyond Israeli borders. • A 6-meter-deep trench, codenamed “New East,” is being built to stop incursions. • Around 35,000 Syrians in the buffer zone now live under IDF control, receiving minimal aid, but denied access to military zones. • Israeli troops fired on civilians near Quneitra and killed four Syrians in Daraa province in response to attacks. Simply not so. Pre modern societies were way more violent than modern Western ones. Pinker’s “Angels of our better nature” is v good on that. But Western cultural superiority is not only a matter of less violence. It has created technological sophistication and a better moral system (hence Britain being the first culture to end slavery). Your empathy for non Western cultures is itself an expression of Western culture

The Israeli military acknowledged on Friday it knew the Bibas family was dead in captivity in Gaza despite previously insisting they might be alive. Hamas said in November 2023 that Shiri Bibas, 32, and her two children, Ariel, aged four, and nine-month-old Kfir, were killed in an Israeli air strike. However, the Israeli military continued to demand their release alive. Military spokesperson Daniel Hagari on Friday confirmed during a news conference that the Israeli military had intelligence that they were already dead but could not announce it to the public. middleeasteye.net/news/israel-sa…
