I’m curious, how many of you have worked on a SaaS product that has handled more than 20,000 requests per second? I don’t care if you like me or hate me I’m just curious to learn. I know some of you have worked on more than one. Put a +1 or +2 or whatever in my replies.

@lcasdev Sundari Pichai did not become CEO as an accident, but exactly because of some of such behavior of Chrome gathering a ton of data from users.

So, Google Chrome gives all *.google.com sites full access to system / tab CPU usage, GPU usage, and memory usage. It also gives access to detailed processor information, and provides a logging backchannel. This API is not exposed to other sites - only to *.google.com.

@rikarends If you add latex syntax and rendering formula, it will be awesome.

I've been writing an HTML and Markdown parser + rendering widget for makepad recently. I almost have my revenge :). It's actually working.

@AwayCaludio @rikarends No, but Meta has very little reputation on HW sector and it takes years to build up a market. Also, there is no such distribution network. The experience you can have in a Apple Store is completely different compared to buying a Quest online.

I'm the biggest apple fanboy when they make the best tech. Laptop tech? M3 amazing. Phones? Iphone 15. VR Headsets? Quest 3. Yea sorry. Not there yet. I'll be cheering for the vision pro 2 tho.

I recently checked out the state of Embedded Rust on ESP32-C3 (RiscV wifi-arduinos. sorta). And its pretty great. Install the build chain with rustup, and you can install the flash tool (espflash) from source with cargo, and then just deploy a bit of no_std Rust instantly.

@rikarends If you need help there drop me a line. I wanted to invest in Rust from Arduini a while ago.

When our IDE is finally decent enough i might put in some time to give it an ESP32 -arduino like wrapper api for small PWM/ADC experiments.

I got the 57" 8k Samsung screen just as a '90% chance ill send it back' but holy f. Whoa. Whoa. This thing is my new world now. Games? mindblowing. Flightsim / fps. But also makepad runs so amazingly. Even the fractal zoomer is a different thing at 8k.

I’m waiting for when Cloudflare releases their identity product. On day one, they can market it as a far more secure alternative to Okta: and they will have proof. Already, they are helping all Okta customers stay secure with this HAR filter tool. Something Okta is not doing!

@GergelyOrosz We @jimdo are hiring people from other companies that are forcing them to come back to the office. Remote first environment here.

What are tech companies that continue to operate as full-remote / remote-first? Given how return to office is so common across the industry: clearly those companies will have an easier time hiring (and probably also retaining)!

@kvlly That’s why we allow using it during interview 😀 it is not just about the correctness of the answer, but the reasoning to get there.

@GergelyOrosz You can set it to always generate new code and not use any public code. This is possible only with the Enterprise license.

I know of a lot of startups using Copilot, and people using just for themselves (but eg not getting "approval") from above. But for any serious company to roll it out, they need answers to these questions. If you have any pointers, do share!

A CTO at a scaleup told me they are evaluating GitHub Copilot, but they got cold feet, when looking at legal implications. E.g. can they be sued if code Copilot produces is copyrighted? What code has Copilot been trained on? Are there answers to these concerns already?

As an AWS user or Cloud developer, you can learn a bunch of things from this thread. And even if you know all of them, still interesting to see how and why AWS has some specific features. #aws #cloud

After using AWS for ~14 years, I've internalised a handful of design patterns that I try to apply to my own software. I'm keen to know if it's the same for other folks. Roughly: tags, IDs (thrice), limits, pagination. (I'm not going to use the thread emoji)
