@Ed_Realist @ddmeyer there is nothing like one-on-one for any teaching or coaching including sports... it puts pressure on both the teacher and the student and it is hard to scale that up

a) "50% as good" would represent serious goalpost moving from what most prominent AI pundits have promised, b) The needed resources for skilled human tutoring DO exist. We just need to transfer them into our education budgets. x.com/laurijarvileht…

@benjaminjriley @ddmeyer Good post. It misses one key point though. I fully agree LLMs won't replace human tutors. But given we have nowhere near the needed resources for human tutoring to support differentiation, even if a scalable digital solution was 50% as good it would be huge for education.

If you're tutoring a kid 1:1, under what circumstances do you decide to intervene and say or ask something?

@ddmeyer Occasionally I ask "Are you sure?" very neutrally when they are right and when they are wrong so they can't tell if it's correct this promotes metacognition and reflection and is a feedback loop that's open

@pwharris it must end with a "2" leaving on F and H Since 144 adds to 9, the answer must also be divisible by 9. Adding F gets us to 19 but H gets to 18 which adds to 9
