@adamboxer1 Enjoyed listening to this. Thank you. I think our head teacher wouldn’t engage the idea of flexi-lessons as she wouldn’t be able to make it so every member of staff could have one per fortnight so it’s not an option for us. How does your HT make this work/ make it fair?

@AQA The last few years I’ve been able to find out how many students nationally achieved full marks on either GCSE maths (240/240) or L2 Further Maths (160/160). Hoping that information is available this year too…

@mathsmrc Hello! No, they wouldn't be penalised. In guidance seen on the right is 'BC (accept awrt 0.086 (2sf))', which stands for 'by calculator (accept anything which rounds to 0.086)'. This reminds examiners the value is expected to come from a calculator & so yes, 0.0858 gets the mark.

The Casio Fx-CG50 automatically truncates distribution answers. (You can find the answer to more dp using options and f1). Would a student be penalised for writing 0.0858 instead of 0.0859? @OCR_Maths

Having reached out to the marking teams, we've been informed that the last question on 3H (Q24) was intended to stretch the most able students by testing them on their algebraic manipulation skills. Students were expected take a hint from the given form in the question, taking out a factor of 2 first, and then complete the square of the resultant expression in the usual way. Alternatively, students can expand the given form and equate coefficients accordingly.

@AQAMaths can students on the regular GCSE be asked to complete the square where the coefficient of x^2 is greater than 1? It don't find anything on it in the teaching guidance and there are no occurences in past papers. It is mentioned in the L2FM though. Just want to be sure!
