Bahrain gives citizenship to Kuwait's former ambassador to the UK. Kuwait removed the citizenship of 15-20% of the population including the most famous actors, politicians, diplomats and religious leaders. It's the largest removal of citizenship per capita. They are made stateless. Kuwait is the only country they have ever known.

Endometriosis, a condition affecting 190 million women and girls worldwide and causes internal bleeding, was given funding for a study in 2013. Instead of studying the causes what could help cure or ease it and what may make one more susceptible to it... They studied the "Attractiveness " of women who had it. Yes, this is a real study.

so much of what passes for mainstream /neoliberal economic policy is about the inviblization of the necessary violence that makes extraction possible--slavery, endenture & death. a narrative of infinite growth in the West is not possible w/o neocolonialism, dispossession & war.

17 Sudanese refugees have died in a boat tragedy off the coast of Tobruk. 33 people were on board Only 7 survived. 9 are still missing!!! These deaths are preventable. They will not stop without ending the war in Sudan and creating safe, legal pathways that protect lives.. الله يرحمهم يا رب ويجمع بالمفقودين

ما زلت عاجزا عن تصديق رحيل حامد خلف الله. جمعتنا في البداية مساحة أكاديمية ومهنية، بحكم عملي وإهتمامي بالسودان. لكن مع حامد كان من الصعب أن يبقى التواصل مهنيا فقط. كان في شخصيته ما يجعلك تنجذب إليه، وترغب في معرفته أكثر، وتشعر بالإمتنان لأنك حظيت بصداقته. لم أعرفه إلا خلال السنة الماضية، لكنها كانت كفيلة بأن يترك في نفسي أثرا لا يمحى - فقد كنا نتراسل يوميا. كان حامد من أطيب الأرواح التي عرفتها؛ ذكيا، صادقا، نبيلا، كريما بوقته، ودافئ الحضور. كان من ذلك الصنف النادر من الناس الذين تشعر بحسن الحظ لأن الحياة جمعتك بهم. من أجمل ما جمعنا أننا كنا نتبادل الرسائل عن العادات السودانية والليبية: التفاصيل الصغيرة، الطعام، الطقوس، العادات، الكلمات، المزاح، وما يجعل مجتمعاتنا مختلفة ومتشابهة في آن واحد... عرفت السودان من خلاله، وتعرف هو على ليبيا من خلالي. لا أستغرب هذا السيل العارم من الحزن على رحيله. فقد كان حامد يحمل السودان في قلبه، ويحمل ثورته، وقضيته، و تطلعاته و توق شعبه للحرية و الكرامة أينما ذهب. محبته للسودان كانت معدية، فقد كانت جزءاً من روحه، ومن المعنى الذي عاش به ومعه. حامد، كما عرفته، لا يحب الحزن. بل يصعب علي أن أتذكر لحظة رأيته فيها و الإبتسامة لا تزين وجهه البشوش، رغم كل ما كان يحمله من أعباء، وما مر به من إبتلاءات ومواجع. لذلك لا أريد أن أثقل عليه بالحزن، ولا أن أودعه بما كان سيضيق به صدره... لكن الفقد كبير، والغياب موجع، وهذا الرحيل أصعب من أن يستقبل إلا بقلب مكسور. بعض الناس لا يحتاجون إلى زمن طويل كي يتركوا أثرا عميقا، و أنا على بقين أن حامد ترك في كل من عرفه أو إحتك به شيئا من لطفه، و نبله، و صدقه، و صفاء روحه. أسأل الله أن يغفر له ويرحمه رحمة واسعة، وأن يرفع مقامه و منزلته في عليين، وأن يسكنه الفردوس الأعلى، وأن يربط على قلوب أهله وأحبابه، ويلهمهم الصبر والسكينة. إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون.

Just looking at messages between Hamid and myself since 2018, Hamid was among everything,the kindest. He cared at a time of indifference, resilient at time of despair, bias to the people at time of polarised voices, defiant at time of cowardliness. We are mourning a Sudan in you

Sudan will miss you. We miss you ya Hamid. I haven’t stopped weeping. ‘Til we meet again ya Hamid rest in eternal peace brother. You’ve left an immeasurable void in our lives. To god we belong and to god we shall return أنا لله و أنا اليه راجعون

“Sometimes we cry by remembering the days we laughed.” This day we laughed so much it was impossible to take still photos.. Sudan, UK, Egypt, the world and our group will never be the same again without his kind, fun, supportive, precious presence. Rest in power, dear Hamid ❤️

what is a nation w/o its dreamers & its fighters?--those who can embark on the long road to justice & shine a light that guides amidst the darkness. Hamid Murtada & Muzan Alneel were 2 such people. the road ahead is darker & lonelier w/o them. rest in power </3 #KeepeyesonSudan

Hamid was friend and an inspiration. His intellect epitomised the raw humanism that made him such a beautiful person. Hamid, I'll miss our many phone calls and the many inside jokes born out of dinners in Khartoum, Cairo and Beirut. I'll miss you. Rest easy now, my dear friend.
